I recently had the end of my shifter paddle - the little “razor” that comes out of the dashboard - tear. According to the dealer, this required replacing the whole shifter…which involved a lot of kind of ridiculous disassembly, etc.
Anyone know if the rubber end of that is just a part that can...
Recently, my little DC ‘fast charge’ flap has stopped staying open - so it’s quite hard to plug in the typical cable that requires two hands to twist into place.
Because it “still works”, it’s not considered a warranty issue…and replacing would require replacing the entire module, which costs...
Ugh. Over the weekend I got pelted by a rock driving through NY/NJ, which left a dime-sized star on the passenger's side, low.
Insurance, of course, wanted a seal, which I just had done and, alas, the star is still visible: its appearance basically didn't change at all.
Windshield replacements...
Anyone know how to remove the cover on the driver's side of the dash - the flat part, facing the door? I tried lightly prying with a trim tool and it didn't seem to want to release...
The guide says this
So perhaps I'm just not being diligent/rough enough?
My car, which has been in for service since last Monday, seems to have been deleted from my Connect account, which is...weird. I received an email this morning that said it was "removed from my account" at 8:04am, that I need to "activate it", and that I should contact them immediately.
Of...
I've been having a problem with the driver's side (AC-only) port on my Taycan. Prior to the latest software, it basically would refuse to open. But since the new software install, it actually flags the error as an "impaired port". It eventually clears up on its own, and then works for a while...
So, it's cold here in the Northeast, but I'd been noticing that all my DC Fast Charge sessions were maxing out at about 60kWh. Thinking it was because the battery might be cold despite driving for 20-30 minutes, I set up a test, driving about 50 minutes to the Auburn MA 350kW chargers, arriving...
It's clear that EA is starting to get a handle on their network.
Over the past three weeks, I've endeavored to charge at an EA charger every time I need a charge, just to try to see how things are coming along.
Chargers that I was having trouble with before (Burlington, Auburn, Seabrook...
Looks like the new version of Connect, released yesterday, fixes the "can't stay logged in" problem. In fact, it seems much more stable (although I don't think I've managed to get it to stay connected to the car, it's getting occasional updates, and has stayed logged in).
Edit: just connected...
I was a guest on the week's I Like Batteries podcast, and like a little yapping dog who just won't shut up, I overstayed my welcome, so it was split into two parts. Part one went live today, and part two drops next week.
I discussed our electric cars, including our old Model S, our current i3...
This is a bit weird. Under the driver's seat, there's a cable and molex plug just sort of hanging there:
On the passenger's side, it looks quite different:
Anyone know how the driver's side is supposed to look? Is it broken or just not clicked in somewhere?
An interesting take on "old school" vs "new school" (eg Tesla) development:
https://mondaynote.com/how-the-tesla-way-keeps-it-ahead-of-the-pack-358db5d52add
While Mr. Chain doesn't really get into them, there are clear downsides to the Tesla approach, and those of us who have had Teslas have...
If I search for an album in Apple Music, I can certainly tell the system to play it by tapping it.
If, however, I then exit the vehicle, turn it off and come back later, it doesn't remember that's what I was playing, and resets to a default (which is somehow the first thing I played on the...
Anyone else seeing this? Basically, open up "My Porsche" at the Porsche web site. You should see your car, a battery indicator to the right, and then a button for "Car Control settings".
Click that button to get to the "control" section. There, click the "E-Mobility" tab.
When I do that, I get...
Found this at the Porsche Newsroom site - I think this is the more basic charger without WiFi.

I have to say, I find the whole Profile concept in Connect quite confusing. Not so much about how to select them, but rather, what they're trying to do.
First, rather than setting a maximum charge, you seem to be setting a "minimum" charge. If the Taycan is at or above minimum... it does not...
Just took my first long roadtrip from home near Boston up to Ogunquit, ME - then to Portland and then back home. I figured I'd see how the range estimate was, and how much more than the obviously ridiculous EPA rating I could achive.
Good things first: I made this drive without any problem...
