Disconnecting the 12V does not power down the car, it is kept alive by the HV DC-DC system. No danger whatsoever disconnecting the HV, its a simple green connector near the 12V battery specifically designed to drop the HV contactors to make the car safe to work on. You could lick it and be just...
I had this issue (greyed out Spotify, unable to use remote services etc) for the last couple of weeks, then noticed my LTE was not working. Tried pulling fuses without success. In the end I pulled the 12V battery terminal and HV disconnect under the hood, let it sit for 15 mins then reconnected...
Same issue here, cannot use any online services, I have a paid active subscription. Spotify is greyed out and cannot even be opened after multiple sleep cycles.
5 years on and this whole setup still sucks. I've had my Taycan for 6 months and still am not sure which settings over ride others, or if my car will charge during a time slot, to a percentage or at all. Porsche really needs to look at how Rivian and Tesla do this, so much more intuitive and...
Perhaps you don’t know what coasting is. I’m not aware of any place on the planet that would let you coast for an hour straight. Anyway, this discussion has descended into ridiculous levels of pedantics. I’m out of here.
I absolutely understand that, it's very obvious. But not many people on here seem to understand that one pedal cars also coast when you hold the accelerator at the coast point, they seem to think its just regen or acceleration, no matter how many times I explain it. Also people seem to think its...
I'm a Rivian development engineer. I definitely understand what one pedal driving is and you haven't anything other than disputing what I wrote without providing any facts.
For the 3rd time Regen cars CAN coast without energy use just like the Taycan.
I'm done here.
You are still missing my point and you evaded my question about conservation of energy.
In F1, 'coasting' means to lift a little sooner and get on the brakes a little later before a tight turn to save a small amount of fuel consumption and/or reduce brake temps. It is not relevant here.
When...
Yes I did. I have a Bachelors and Masters in Engineering, which is why I understand concepts like the conservation of energy that seem to be eluding you. Maybe you can explain where that energy to maintain the same speed as coasting is going if it is not applying accelerative forces?
I’ll wait…...
I don't find it at all difficult to maintain a constant speed going up or down hills, or in city traffic. It's like riding a bike, its just a muscle memory activity. When I hold the Rivian throttle at a percentage where a regular gas car would coast, it does coast, no energy is being consumed. I...
I don’t really agree. 99% of the time when I lift the throttle it is to slow down, not coast. I therefore want the vehicle to decelerate, not coast.
It can not draw more energy to coast at 50 than maintain 50 with foot on the throttle. Otherwise the vehicle would accelerate - that energy has to...
I don't understand how coasting is more efficient than 1 pedal regen driving.
I drive many other EV's a lot (>50k miles per year) and it is kind of annoying to jump in my Taycan then suddenly find almost no deceleration due to regen.
They are taking your insurance company for a ride. Likely this is just a cracked radiator or split hose. There is a reason why these places are called stealerships.
The (quickly learned) solution to this is to ease off the throttle instead of just removing your foot entirely at 70mph. Have driven maybe 1 million miles or more in Porsches, and maybe 250,000 in EV's with regen set permanently on high, I much prefer the EV way of doing it.
While I love to drive my car hard on occasion, 99% of my actual driving is commuting, going to the store, picking up kids etc (as I suspect is the case for 99% of Taycan drivers).
For this I would much prefer one pedal regen braking like in my Rivian, and for this setting to stay on until I...
I am looking for Mission E wheels in white, if anyone is interested in a trade for a perfect set of 20" Taycan Turbo Aero Wheels with new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. Trade plus cash in either direction depending on wheel condition and tire status. I am located in the CA Bay Area peninsula. I...
