  1. Additional security

My previous cars I had to disable the alarm and motion sensor on a ferry - otherwise the alarm sounded. In the Macan do you have to turn off the ‘inclination sensor’ on a ferry ?
  2. UK service & costs

I had a new 2021 RR Velar P450e plug-in. I had 7 visits to the dealer in 18 months. A new amplifier and the rest was software. Every time they ‘updated‘ the software it cured the current issue but the previous one then reappeared. I know an owner of a new Velar diesel bought the same time, had...
  3. Additional security

I was told by my dealer and UK customer service, that if I had a non-Porsche tracker fitted and the car developed an electrical issue the warranty may be invalidated. Sounded unlikely, but I went with the Porsche fitted Vodafone tracker and it seems to work well - when I’ve stupidly left my...
  4. [opinion] - hmmm…VW/Audi/Porsche may be in trouble…

When making the investments in R&D and manufacturing plants, I think that the EV manufacturers trusted the governments to stand by the ICE bans and ‘fines’ for not achieving EV sales. The EU and UK and other governments have not only caved in by extending the bans but allowed heavily subsidised...

  6. Ford vs Porsche and “other drivers”

In the UK it’s Audi’s that seem to have the worst reputation for bad drivers. Years ago, Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear coined a phrase for aggressive tailgating - “the full Audi”. It seems to live on, not least because it is still very true.
  7. EV's vs PHEV's - what makes sense in the next 10 years?

The problem with 12v batteries affect far more ICE ‘self charging’ hybrid cars than EV’s. Toyota is renowned for it - they shrank the size of the battery as in hybrids it doesn’t start the car. There is no alternator, it’s charged from the very small EV battery and if journeys are short and and...
  8. EV's vs PHEV's - what makes sense in the next 10 years?

I’m not sure that this Forum is the right place to defend reliability of EV’s ! That said, I think a lot of the problems with EV’s are software related (ignoring Taycan battery issues) rather than mechanical / system issues. In the future I very much doubt the ’independents’ and corner garages...
  9. EV's vs PHEV's - what makes sense in the next 10 years?

Before buying an EV I had 3 PHEV’s - 2 Merc’s and a Range Rover. I think it is totally down to your normal usage. As the majority of my driving was within electric range, when I sold the Range Rover it had an overall average of 85 mpg. Although it only had a 2L engine the 0 to 60 times was...
  10. Reckless Driver arrested by Irvine PD - in a base Taycan

A comedian in the UK was caught speeding. As he knew it would be reported in the press, when the policeman said he was doing 80 mph he asked him to state he was caught doing over 100 mph as it looked like he was going to have to sell the car !
  11. UK Government considering new tax on EV drivers in Budget (According to BBC and Telegraph)

Plug-ins are to be taxed at 1.5p. Another complication as there are probably more PHEV’s than EV’s here in the UK. So a car doing say 7,000 miles will have to pay say £ 100 but how much to administer ? Also, how much will it cost for say the MOT testing house to do it - £ 30 ? So it costs the...
  12. Engine control error

As you near the end of the warranty I guess the repair will be far more profitable to the dealer when you are paying versus what Porsche will pay them. I would ask the dealer to provide a copy of the codes they have that confirms no issue and then compare them with yours ?
  13. Porsche Digital Key

The 2026 EV Macan also has it as a $ 250 option on comfort access. There are extensive posts on the MacanEV forum regards whether it could come as a software download on 2024 / 2025 cars - the knowledgable owners say it need additional hardware despite the Macan EV already having UWB.
  14. Andersen EV Chargers and their reliability. Is the company on the brink of bankruptcy for the second time

    I don’t think that is misleading. The Octopus cheap rate tariff is I believe 7p / kw. So 5,000 / say 3.5 kw = 1,428 kw = £ 100.
  15. UK Government considering new tax on EV drivers in Budget (According to BBC and Telegraph)

Reasonable running costs are all allowable against corporation tax, hence the director can’t then claim the 45p. How times have changed, I had my home charger installed in 2025 for only £ 300 after the subsidy, I claimed the VAT back and then off-set what was left. Don’t know if it’s still the...
  16. UK Government considering new tax on EV drivers in Budget (According to BBC and Telegraph)

The collection of the mileage tax will be interesting. If the registered owners have to pay it then that’s the lease company or maybe even the PCP - can you imagine the fun if lease companies have to pay annually for hundreds of cars all run by different companies without a clue what the mileage...
  17. UK Government considering new tax on EV drivers in Budget (According to BBC and Telegraph)

I ensured that my car would be registered before April 1st this year so, currently, I don’t pay the ‘expensive car tax’ of £ 450 for 5 years. What’s the betting that is reversed from 1st April 2026.
  18. Loving this Macan EV

In the UK the mirror can be swivelled down
  19. Loving this Macan EV

You must have meant no way to open the charge door from inside - it can only be opened from outside ! The passenger mirror can auto ‘dip‘ on reverse and the default recuperation is auto - you can switch over-run off and on. As you say, you just haven’t had time to figure these things out. Lots...
  20. UK Government considering new tax on EV drivers in Budget (According to BBC and Telegraph)

All the VAT registered companies running company cars & vans will claim it back through their VAT returns. The Government will say it is company friendly as zero cost. The companies claim the 20% on public chargers back too. EV’s for a business and company car drivers are massively tax...
