My winter problem is less the snow and more that the parking lot I use almost daily is horrible (it is at a ski area). Unpaved and with deep pot holes plus uneven plowing leaving all cars at risk of damage.
Static uses a Camera and Sensor Calibration Tool in the shop. My guy said his tool is the same as the one dealerships use.
Dynamic calibration requires driving the car with hand held unit that is plugged into the car while it is being driven.
FRom my limited research, the differnce can be...
The windshield on my Taycan 4s was replaced today. The independent glass operator got the windshield from Porsche , OEM 9J1 845 099 R NVB. $1329.52 on invoice from Porsche , $200 flat rate installation, high module urethane $30, Static recalibration $300= $1859.52.
When I drive at 75-80 mph in 30 degree ambient temperature for an hour , the battery temp rises from 45 to 60 degrees or more. Another hour and it rises a similar amount.
I get the same numbers for loss of range in cold temperatures, but I have a question. Why can't the Taycan pre-heat the battery while connected to the utility/charger? Would that make a difference? I believe Tesla's can pre-heat the battery.
Consumer Reports strongly recommends winter tires for those driving in snow country. I wish I had the option of summer tires when my 4S came with all-season tires. Finally, make sure you get tires designed for EVs. The weight of the car and other issues make that a must if you want the tires to...
Thanks for that data. Have you recorded anything similar when the battery is preheated? The one time Iooked at my data, battery starting at 48 degrees F, ambient temp high 30s F, a 125 mile trip at 75-80 mph used the equivalent of 155 miles of range.
I charge at home with a 40 amp charger. If my battery is say at 25% of capacity, the charge rate is .4mi/minute. Sometime during the charge it slows to .3mi/min. I expect that as the battery nears 90 or 100% it will slow further. Does anyone have a graph of the charge rate vs battery...
