New Rival: AMG GT - 4 Door Coupe - 1169hp

The interior gives me the old Alienware gaming computer vibes. The rear, the old RX7. Overall, hard pass. Like everything else post 97 Mercedes.

What Happens To Us After 8 Years? (When battery warranty expires)

I'd be less worried about replacing the battery, and more about our cars no longer being able to connect to Porsche connected services. Even though I am quite sure most batteries will hold well, these can anyway be replaced if needed. But connectivity is a whole different animal. Two limiting...

    Recuperation mode?

Always off. Unless we're talking about emergency braking, it's me who decides how and when to brake, not the car. Braking unnecessarily is suboptimal and pointless, and that doesn't sit well with me. That said, of all options, I find the auto mode particularly annoying. I value consistency in...

EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

Just be aware that simply plugging via USB might not be sufficient for CarPlay to work in wired mode. Wireless mode will kick in the moment a successful Bluetooth connection is established. So if you want to force wired mode, you’ll have to remove the Bluetooth connection to the PCM in your...

EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

And also, CarPlay audio integrates quite well with the PCM displays. So there’s no obvious benefit in using the native app. The only argument is that wireless CarPlay compresses audio. But that’s easily resolved by using wired CarPlay.

EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

My biggest hope is that this update is to rework the whole OtA process, so that starting from now, we are able to receive more frequent and comprehensive updates without visiting the dealership. There's nothing I dread more than that.

I'll wait and see how it goes for the people installing the fix, before I book an appointment. Genuinely excited!

    Replacement Night Vision Camera

Happy that it was so easy in the end! Do you happen to have the VW part number by any chance?

App to trigger battery preconditioning by sending a dummy HPC destination – does this already exist?

My honest take. The Porsche navigation system already offers the possibility of browsing available chargers in your vicinity and selecting one as destination. Offering the same through yet another app brings no net added value. You may simply use the Porsche native app to select a nearby...

EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

You’re not alone. 3k km after being upgraded to 3885, mine shows no issues. Of course I remain extremely skeptical that my issue is resolved, as there’s plenty of other instances here where this update didn’t do anything. But yeah, so far mine is working just fine 🤷🏻‍♂️

How do you have your dash/HUD configured?

On my left tube I have ACC displayed. It shows how close the car ahead is, in relation to the dynamic distance that I've set myself. Also, it helps with making ACC negatives (i.e. when it fails to detect the car ahead) visible. If no car is shown there, then your car won't keep distance...

What's the best alternative to the Taycan?

That's where the misunderstanding lays. The discussion was never about the whole hybrid universe, but concretely about PHEVs: you replied to my comment, which was a direct allusion to the criticism raised by @prj SPECIFICALLY aimed at PHEVs like the new RS6. This was never about HEVs like the...

EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

Something to consider about priority, reputation, et al. is that there's a lot of echo chamber that is created regarding issues within owners' circles on internet forums. For the general public, these go largely unnoticed. I know it's just my personal observation, but it serves as an example...

What's the best alternative to the Taycan?

Except it's not cheaper, and definitely not more reliable. PHEVs are found to have more problems than both ICE and BEV vehicles. So much so that it's currently considered the least reliable type of powertrain...

EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

I wouldn't be quick to judge the complexity of someone else's codebase without having actual knowledge about it. What seems like a trivial fix from the outside, can become a gargantuan task the moment you begin dealing with dependencies. What is clear, however, is that this topic isn't at the...

What's the best alternative to the Taycan?

The very argument I've been raising for a long time. It's incredible how they've brainwashed people to buy into a compromised package purely through fearmongering.

What's the best alternative to the Taycan?

It's interesting to see what different people prioritise. And really, no judgment on that. Different folks, different strokes they say. I personally don't care about prestige. I drive the car for me, not for others. My priorities are driving dynamics, an interior that makes me say "this is a...

EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

I was thinking of setting up a small website, which based on a country selection, directly opens the submission form for the chosen European national consumer agency, including a default template report describing the problem at hand. All that without storing any data in the actual website or...
