I did try that but it didnt work. Somehow the fault codes for the side mirrors are buried deep in and the only way that I know of to clear it is as described above. When I first hook up the piwis the first thing I did was clear all fault codes but it didnt work
Oh just go into Zentralelektrik or Cental Electronics control module and look for Wartungsintervalle zurücksetzen (Reset service intervals). Once done the icon dissapears
I guess it's a hit and miss. If the car somehow "woke up" while the mirrors were off then all sorts of fault would be stored. I got quoted an equivalent of USD 500 in my currency which I refuse to pay hence the diy..
