    EVs = passenger motion sickness

Thankfully I’ve never suffered from car sickness, but I can think of several drivers (of ICE cars) who seem to keep pressing and releasing the accelerator even when they’re maintaining a constant speed and it’s horrible. The instant response of an EV exaggerates any lack of smoothness from the...

    Swapped J1.1 4S to J1.2 GTS - My Observations / Review

I was out driving this evening and switched off music and aircon to be sure, but I couldn’t hear anything like that. I’ve found the GTS is noticeably not as quiet as the 4S, but it’s road noise from the bigger tyres as expected. I also had the automated charge doors in the 4S and didn’t pick...

    Swapped J1.1 4S to J1.2 GTS - My Observations / Review

I should have said I had a 4S with the performance battery and max range at full was 285+ depending on temperature. The GTS so far would work out at about 315+ with a full charge, but I‘m expecting that to improve with warmer weather and longer journeys.

    Swapped J1.1 4S to J1.2 GTS - My Observations / Review

Thanks - and yes you’re right, I’m appreciating it more every day!

    Swapped J1.1 4S to J1.2 GTS - My Observations / Review

Intelligent Octopus does work with the J1.2 and a compatible EVSE - it charges at various times for the cheap rate, so not just in the overnight window. I get various charging errors that I have to ignore, for example because Octopus start and stop charging multiple times before finally getting...

    Swapped J1.1 4S to J1.2 GTS - My Observations / Review

Sharing my observations after swapping my 5 year J1.1 4S with a new J1.2 GTS (PTHGA7F9) back in December. Feedback and comments welcome, especially if you can help on the points in bold (I’ve tried a few searches on the forum …) Power - As a road car, I think for me the sweet spot in terms of...

UK vs European prices - used Taycan

I was in the same situation just over 10 years ago with a new BMW and moving to Switzerland - I decided to take the car and it was fine to use day to day so you might want to consider taking it and keeping it going for a while. We had to unexpectedly return to the UK earlier than planned, so it...

Apple Watch App - good when it works

… and once you’ve done that it doesn’t seem to need the iPhone any more. Try switching off your phone and using one of the functions on the watch.

Apple Watch App - good when it works

According to the latest update of the Porsche app this issue is now fixed ?

Oh dear, new Taycan standard equipment adds stuff I don't want yet doesn't include a lot of what I do.

We’re straying from the original topic … but in addition to slowing down on hills, you can add slowing down unnecessarily for speed cameras and police cars, both of which tell me the driver doesn’t actually know what the speed limit is. Unfortunately not best to blast past those ones though!

    UK speed bumps…

Generally I’ve found the normal and sport ride height fine on my saloon 4S (I use sport as the default) but use lift if the speed bump is higher. With some of the narrow speed ‘pillows’ in my area the car is so wide that it just straddles them, but even so, in the sport setting it doesn’t...

Apple Watch App - good when it works

I’ve been meaning to raise this issue too - the app is pointless for me now as it won’t work without the phone. I run several times a week with a club and use an Apple Watch to avoid carrying a phone, it really bugs me that I can’t switch the heating on before I get back to the car like I did...

Musical Eurotrip: 2100-mile 2-week road trip

I’m just back from a similar (non-musical!) tour. European charging infrastructure really is superb, these photos are from Champfleury in France … interesting to see just the one Tesla EV vs 6 non-Tesla’s

Porsche factory tours fully booked for 2024 - any suggestions?

We did the Porsche factory tour last Tuesday and can thoroughly recommend it, seeing the Taycan production line first and then the 911 - I must say the 911 line looked a little 'old school' in comparison (especially the 'smoker's corner')! Couldn't quite see everything as they were putting...

Porsche factory tours fully booked for 2024 - any suggestions?

Thanks for all the suggestions - they must have had a cancellation as a tour became available on the booking site on the ideal day for me, so I snapped it up! ?

Porsche factory tours fully booked for 2024 - any suggestions?

Planning a road trip in September through Germany and France, I was hoping to do the factory tour (I’ve done the museum before) - but all tours are completely booked for the rest of this year! I find it hard to believe that it is so booked up and I’m wondering if they’ve been hoovered up by...

Driving without PVTS tracker fob...yet no warnings or messages

I always get a warning on the dash if I start to drive and the fob isn’t detected - sounds like that’s not happening

    Missing Apple CarPlay icon

I use CarPlay a lot but recently the icon has disappeared from the centre console control panel - it used to be on the top right of the lower screen. I can find and use the CarPlay icon in the PCM (top) screen, but it’s not as easy when driving. I have tried the two finger PCM reboot and...
