Taycan ownership trope: are Taycans really split between total lemons vs faultless vehicles?

Statistics are great. Until you're on the wrong end of them. I agree that you never see a poor warranty/insurance company :) But for the type of car Porsche sell, their warranty positions are not horrendously expensive. I've run Ferraris and Astons without warranty cover and had nothing go...

    Creaky Cupholders - solutions??

My boys neither. One had a driving lesson at 10yrs old. Seemed to enjoy it, seemed pretty natural (manual gearbox, no stalling). Little to no interest beyond that. Went karting at 11. Again, seemed to get it. Took him karting a few weeks ago (now 14yrs old) and was painful to watch -...

Is anyone still having issues with the PCM randomly rebooting while driving (Mine's a '21)

Worth looking here - (13) EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892] | Page 100 | TaycanForum -- Porsche Taycan Owners, News, Discussions, Forums It's not going to be solely EU/UK...

EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

Mine goes in on the 20th. Will also get an HV battery software campaign applied - was serviced at the beginning of the year so am assuming this is something new (or the records weren't updated in January). Also getting them to look at a very loud squeaking from the front offside suspension...

    Steering, Suspension squeek/noise

Noticed mine doing this recently. Not quite as loud as yours, but have definitely noticed it. When did yours start? Does it do it in all weathers? Only noticed mine lately when it's been hot. Mine's a 22 ST with 45k miles.

Taycan Problem - potential catastrophic tire failure

I run that now, and so far so good.

Check what pressures you're running too, with an independent (of the car) gauge.

Porsche discontinues Cross Turismo variant in US

😁 I'm driving the vast majority of the time. But my kids are growing quickly. But can sit reasonably ok in the rear of an ST. (Foot space is the bigger issue).

Porsche discontinues Cross Turismo variant in US

I guess I'm outside the "normal" envelope at 6'4", but the CT/ST felt like they had a big headroom advantage over the saloon/sedan to me when I tried them. I can imagine not a massive difference in litreage/cubic feet of actual luggage space. (Though again, there maybe the odd time that makes...

are NF tyres really required to protect warranty?

Nope. Better performance elsewhere. In part because Porsche/tyre manufacturers are so slow to release new alternatives. I run Hankook Ion Evos...same as on the J1.2 only a little wider. Ref warranty, there's no specific exclusion for non-NF rated tyres that I can see. There's an exclusion...

I built a privacy-first analytics dashboard for Taycan / Macan EV trip data

Thought I'd posted this (is there another thread for it?) - love it! One glitch...if I adjust the useable battery capacity, it doesn't change any of the efficiency calcs. My SoH is around 93%. So that means a useable of 77.8kWh rather than 83.7kWh...makes a big difference to the efficiency...

    Heater Recall?

Tyres are borderline a scam with main dealers from most marques. Scary amber warnings when tyres are barely worn in, exorbitant costs to replace. If one doesn't like getting ripped off, always always always check how much you are to be charged for tyres, screen wash, wipers and easily replaced...

"Porsche Reflects On Its First Electric Car: 'Timing Wasn't Ideal'" - article

A really good point. I think part of that is all the FUD around EVs...arrrrgh, you can only go 10 miles without having to charge it....argggh the battery only lasts 5mins before it dies and sets on fire. All of it without any rational critiquing.

    Heater Recall?

When this was really prevalent, I thought a number of people had replacements that were the same type of heater. Then Porsche brought an updated/uprated part on line which I though fixed it properly. 2023 cars fell within the net of cars impacted so not new enough to be "cured". Timelines of...

"Porsche Reflects On Its First Electric Car: 'Timing Wasn't Ideal'" - article

I'm not sure efficiency, at the time of launch, was really that far off the pace for this sort of car. Sure, nowhere near the best, but not radically far off. (3mi/kwh)? Especially if wheel choice was restrained. The J1.2 gets the vast majority of its range improvement from a lot bigger use...
