Brought the car in yesterday morning, they said they didn't know when it'd be ready. Apparently they need some special tool that they only have 2 of and 1 was broken, so they only could do 2 heater replacements a day. But they still got it fixed in the same day.
They name it differently in different markets (like the confusing chalk/crayon thing). Here the automatic door opening thing is called comfort access in some places and “porsche access” in others. I don’t think we have the “move seat back and steering wheel up so I can get out” even as an...
Thanks! Took a bit of a gamble on it since I'd never seen one in that color in person, and in pictures it can look wildly different depending on the lighting, but very happy I risked it. Dealer said it's the first one they've seen/sold in that color as well.
Probably not recommended, as those are on a switched output, so at the very least you'd have to leave the car on.
And in modern vehicles there's quite a bit of monitoring going on on how many amps every individual subsystem and output pulls, I don't think the involved ECU's would like seeing it...
Just got back from the dealer, they confirmed that it was indeed the protective foil that caused this. Normally it only happens with cars that are produced around the summer (and sit in the sun with the film on), and apparently when removed the sun makes the lines go away. Of course mine was...
Did it look like worms or snail trails? Detailer is thinking that they applied protective foil when the clearcoat wasn't dry yet, and the patterns look like the long air bubbles that would be created by that foil.
Edit: like this:
Left my car at the detailer this morning and just got a call that the paint condition is absolutely terrible. Some weird and serious paint defects under the clearcoat. Car is going back to Porsche. I'm pretty devastated.
Anyone else who's car had been in storage with (similar) paint issues?
I didn't spec comfort access (for security reasons) when I ordered my car, it's not on the order note or bill, also not mentioned in the car details on my porsche. It's not part of any pack we have in this country.
However I can open the trunk by kicking the car in the nuts, the door handles...
Mine was finished in July (sans 12v batt), finally went on the truck the 25th, arriving in Brussels next week and then another 4 days until it reaches the dealer (Ghent). Then some paperwork, so they hope to deliver before the 23rd, if not it'll be next year... fingers crossed
Mine's also one of the missing 12V battery cars. Supposed to be coming in this or next week...
Car rolled out of the factory somewhere in July and has been sitting since.
And in stark contrast: I ordered (4S ST) late March (this year), production estimate was initially end of year, but last month I got a call that the car will be finished in August (this year).
