I ordered these new in July 2020 and never got around to even taking them out of the shipping box. Porsche part # 9J1 860 159, $480 new, yours for $200 + shipping. These are the screw-mount bars designed for the sedans.
I'm selling my never-installed never-used Porsche Winter Wheel set for Taycan (P/N 9J1 073 600 E). Purchased new in 2020 from Suncoast parts, and then lovingly stored in my garage. New set lists for $6794 plus $52 for the tote bags. All yours for just $2500. Tires are factory-mounted by Porsche...
While the Grizzle-e is a decent charger by all accounts, I don't think it was an acceptable substitute for the PMCC. The Porsche Mobile Charger Connect (which was a 'mandatory option' for the 2020 model year) was, as its name implied, a mobile charger. The Grizzle-e is s wall-mounted charger...
A reasonable suggestion for some folks, but I hate the Model 3. I will only buy cars with some form of instrument panel in front of the driver. And honestly, I hear so many horror stories about the repair costs and wait times from Tesla owners I know that I can't say I'm particularly thrilled...
Yeah, the issue with the Ioniq 6 right now is the depreciation cost. It appears to be a good car, but it would cost me far more over the next three or four years than the Polestar. I'm looking for a cheap option that's still fun/nice, as opposed to the best car in a given purchase price range...
Nothing yet, but I’m seriously considering a used Polestar 2. It’s not in the same class as the Taycan, but that’s kind of the point. It’s a really nice car to putter around town in, and it’s not so precious that some inevitable city door dings and such will drive me as crazy. And on the rare...
I’m sorry to report that I sold my 2020 Taycan Turbo today.
Nothing against the car, but I wasn’t driving it anymore. Since moving to the DC Area I’ve found that the traffic and parking aren’t really Porsche-friendly. The roads are lined with speed cameras, and the great driving roads are all...
I did have two additional observations based on earlier remarks:
1. Getting 150 kW when plugging in at a SoC of 50% is actually pretty typical for a preconditioned Taycan, and way above average as an EV charging experience. At 50%, you’re well down the curve from peak charging. The changes that...
I think the Munro guys actually had the right perspective on this assembly: it’s not the ideal way to engineer the part, but given the Taycan’s relatively low production volume it’s quite possibly the right choice for Porsche. The tooling for a more integrated assembly might be sufficiently...
Totally agreed. My Taycan was out of commission for nearly a week last month with this issue, and it’s the second time that it has happened this year. Both incidents required a dealer visit to resolve.
And like Dave, the thought that this could be an out-of-pocket expense for me in the future...
Totally agree on the question of range importance relative to charging speed.
On the EPA vs. WLTP question, I think EPA's numbers are closer to real-world in US driving conditions for most vehicles (not as much for the Taycan, but the variance there is a rare case).
The Taycan is a useful...
I was struck by the sound of the GT4-e at Rennsport. Coming down the main straight, I commented to my friend "that thing sounds like a bag of whistles." It was most definitely not silent.
It’s not that it cost 5K, it’s that something like a Ford Escape generates about 4.5K of profit for the automaker.
As to the cost of the wheels, I will defer to the Munro folks as they work with lots of automakers and costing out parts is literally their business. That said, it’s possible that...
I suspect that this is a big nothing burger. The EPA publishes a test protocol, and Tesla has optimized for that protocol. The protocol is not representative of all driving conditions, but I will defend the EPA's test in saying that as bad as it is, that test is more realistic than the world's...
I had the pleasure of being at Rennsport in Monterey earlier this year, and there were Taycans all over the place serving as 'taxi' vehicles and shuttles. All of them had wraps, some of which were pretty awesome.
Just posted, doing a walk around of the underside of the car. It's a '22 base Taycan with the only option being the RS Spyder wheels.
my favorite observation was about Porsche's margins on the wheels relative to the total profit most automakers see on the entire vehicle:
"every time somebody...
I'm really sorry to hear that has been your experience. I will say that my dealer has been really fantastic through dealing with the few issues that I've encountered. I suspect that individual dealers can make for rather different experiences.
