  1. Official: Manthey Kit for the Turbo GT with Weissach (Nordschleife lap record: 6:55.533)

It is very impressive, I agree. But I keep thinking: I'm all in on EVs, and my Taycan is perfect or everyting that I do with a car. But around the Ring, I'd rather be sitting in a GT3 regardless. Heck, I'd rather 'Ring a Cayman GT4. It reminds me of another example. I used to drive a Jaguar...
  2. Official: Manthey Kit for the Turbo GT with Weissach (Nordschleife lap record: 6:55.533)

The most awesome Taycan ever! But, then again, who tracks their Taycan, a four door grand touring EV? Go Manthey a GT3 for that, please. I mean, to clarify, that I'm glad they did it, if only so that brands X, Y, and Z will stop claiming that their EVs are "faster than Porsche". But nobody...
  3. found my perfect CPO except for being white instead of carrara white metallic - deal killer or no biggie?

I have seen both. Online they look quite similar. In person less so. Head on over to your local Porsche dealer to have a gander, in person, at the paint samples.
  4. Power on/off button.. Long press time?

My US 2023 car: I exit without poking the off button, and lock with a door handle touch. So perhaps Canada and/or a different year behaves differently.
  5. Power on/off button.. Long press time?

For the entire time I have owned the car, I have been doing this: To enter: Unlock the car with the key fob, or wait for the door handles to present when I approach. To exit: Press the park button, then get out of the car and either press the lock button on the key fob or touch the door handles...
  6. Power on/off button.. Long press time?

Serious question: Is there a day-to-day reason to use the power button? After three years of ownership, I still just use the key, never touching the button.
  7. Tire Comparison

On the plus side, you could then claim to be the only person willing to risk trying super mega discount cheapo non NF rated tires on a Taycan. An ultra-rare Taycan "4A" no less, looking at your profile (which you subsequently corrected to 4S)
  8. Technical Deep Dive: Taycan J1.2 charging based on my new 2026 Taycan...

Some great detail, so thank you. I do think that one section may need a tweak. You say: "Home charging is slower than global specifications suggest; typically about 8–9 kW in practice (up to ~9.6 kW under ideal residential circuit conditions)." My experience at home is that the Taycan will...
  9. Bahama Yellow PTS 4S. Now detailed and PPF'd

Cool color! And the garage in the photo - which I assume is the Magic Detail location - looks (using British understatement) "properly illuminated" for a detailing shop.
  10. Taycans everywhere!

There are a ton of Taycan in the San Francisco bay area, but you don't often see them on the road, outside of certain areas and certain times of day (commute time). That said, I counted seven in the SFO hourly parking lot on Friday of last week, versus just two 911s.
  11. Porsche mulling Panamera and Taycan Merger

I call the J1 platform that underpins the Taycan an EV-specific architecture. Yes it re-uses lots of Panamara suspension parts, but there is absolutely no room anywhere in the overall platform to add a ICE engine, drive shaft, exhause, etc. It does not have Lucid levels of efficient packing...
  12. Porsche mulling Panamera and Taycan Merger

The flavor of the day seems to be hybrid platforms that can be EV, ICE, or hybrid. In my view that is an architectural dead end. I look forward to getting back to EV-optimized architectures, which can be far more highly optimized that these all-things-to-all-people mashup platforms.
  13. Braking while downshifting

Wet and cold PSCB brakes are just scary. Luckily I live in California, which is generally dry, and I know this will happen, so a few stabs at the brakes after washing the car makes it all good. I have never experienced the problem on downshift mentioned.
  14. The world’s first Porsche Club for all-electric sports cars - article

This is great to see! I have noticed that the average Porsche driver is not quite the same as the average Taycan slash Macan EV driver, and I'd rather hang out with the latter.
  15. Successful Matrix headlight activation for US Taycan

So a US user who bought the Matrix headlights can get them activated? That's exciting! What happened to the narrative, from 9xx.com if I remember correctly, that the activation required a special power supply lest you bork the entire car or something? So that was FUD?
  16. "Why Electric Porsches Will Never Make Sense" - video

Now there's a video that will NOT age well - right up there with those "why electric lighting will never replace gas lamps" editorials in the 1880s.
  17. Car Wash & CCB’s

Carbon ceramic does not like acids, nor strong bases. Those and other chemicals can corrode, oxidize, or otherwise contaminate your brakes. In theory. In the real world you will almost certainly not have a problem. Car wash chemicals are not THAT acidic or basic, and they generally get applied...
  18. Taycan 18 way seat Discomfort

I love the 18-way seats, so nicely snug, but yes they are best for folks with hips that aren't too wide, and a good reminder to try before you buy. I do agree that the Paamera 18-ways seem wider, which is appropriate for that car I think.
  19. Don’t curb the wheels!!

Sounds like nonsense. I had a similarly miniscule scrape in a factory painted Mission E wheel, and the Porsche dealer fixed it up perfectly, covered by my (overpriced I am sure) Porsche wheel/windshield/door ding insurance. They picked up the car, fixed the wheel, and dropped it back at my...
  20. To wax or not to wax

I am finding that the Porsche paint is very good, yes. But wax or ceramic coat is definitely required, and I prefer the ceramic.
