Now that the Tesla system is opening up, starting with Ford, I'm curious if anyone else has tried one of the NACS supercharger to CCS adapters. I'm aware that Ford uses plug and charge, but other manufacturers do not, so in theory as long as they allow you to initiate charge from the app, it...
Yeah, I'll be keeping my 2021 for a while yet, but a lot of the changes are what I would have hoped to see, so quite happy overall. I am very curious if they will keep marketing the HD matrix headlight stuff since none of the VAG group cars truly enable those in the US still.
My wife's 2023...
I always loved the tears on the car - sad to see them changed.
As to the Kia design comment, perhaps Chevy is more appropriate, as the Kia/Hyundai guys have been killing it on design lately.
Slappy, not Sloppy, my friend... ;) As to being annoyed, see my comment below.
I think this hits the nail on the head. As someone coming to the brand for the first time, the expectation from the marketing and sales work is not just one of performance, but also high quality. Perhaps, given...
Yup - wasn't trying to imply it could cause issues, just that it felt like at least a minimal amount of power was being applied to the preload the suspension somewhat.
Potentially stupid question: on non-center-lock wheels like we have on Taycans, why would the center caps ever be pried off at a dealership or at a tire place?
Exactly. I have also noticed this in a parking garage. If you toggle regen off, the noise stops. It seems to only be when a tiny amount of regen is in play.
The best way to describe it is to look up "computer GPU coil whine" for those that have trouble hearing very high frequency noises...
Same here, when going from the street onto my upward-sloped driveway, or when backing out onto the street.
The slope is pretty gentle, so it's quite surprising, as no other car so far has had any sound when doing that.
Do you have a source for this? My experience has been that it does apply some level of torque at the wheels, as I can feel the car move slightly from the stopped position once I fully depress the go pedal to initiate LC. But maybe I'm tricking myself into thinking that.
When it gets to around that -10F (-25C) or so temperature, you can go outside with a boiling hot cup of water and throw it up in the air, and it will instantly turn into a mix of steam and snow. It's awesome as hell!
I'm getting a bit tired of the "Porsche is a driver's car" excuses for the absolutely godawful electronics and software in this car. This is a $70,000-250,000 car. There is absolutely zero excuse for not having top-tier capabilities in the software.
For the people who somehow want an EV but...
From having recently had a Macan loaner, just be sure to spec something higher than the bottom couple of trims. Those are so underpowered that they are downright dangerous. Had several cases of pushing the gas pedal at an intersection and literally nothing happening for a solid 1-2 seconds. It...
I'm necro-ing a really old thread, I know, but I never saw an update from you on what they found, if anything. I have heard the high pitched screech only when regen is on and I can only hear it at low speeds - guessing it is drowned out by tire noise at higher speeds.
Nicely done. I am not an Apple guy, so I'd be far more interested in mounting a standard spring-clip style phone holder to this so it allowed for different phone sizes/brands/cases. I don't care at all about it supporting wireless charging.
Would you be open to me doing a remix of this that...
Once I realized the timing was close to 1 second I, too, was absolutely convinced it was coming from the clock. The best way to get over that perception if you're not moving is to close your eyes. That overcomes any visual bias that your brain is detecting about where the source of the sound is...
It's not this, I think, as the sound comes from closer to the cupholder area, and I have had it even with climate control completely off.
Hmm.... does it do this periodically while driving?
I thought I'd try posting this here. I have noticed a somewhat quiet clicking/ticking noise that occurs at a rate of almost exactly 1 tick per second. It happens at varied speeds and usually only lasts for 7-10 seconds. By the time I get my phone out to record it, it's usually either too late...
So some thoughts from someone who is not a Porsche purist or loyalist. Numbered according to your points:
1-pedal driving: there is no excuse why this isn't an option. It's pure software, and could be defaulted to "off" and turned on if desired by users. This is Porsche demonstrating their...
I just got my Taycan Turbo 2 months ago. It's my first Porsche as a driver, but I have been a passenger in several.
The OP is *dead on* about the critique of the charging experience and the car's software/phone apps. The software design is atrocious and inexcusable for a $100,000+ vehicle...
