A problem has emerged that I can't find referenced on this forum so here goes with a new thread. Two weeks ago while charging overnight on an EverCharge level two charger (a charge network common in in modern Francisco multi-unit buildings) the car stopped charging short of 80% with the red fault light on at the port and the "can't continue charging" message on the dash. I could not get the charge to complete. A neighbor tested my charger on her Bolt and it charged fine. I had enough charge to get home and when I arrived home the car charged fine on my "dumb" Grizzl E level two. Back in SF this weekend and my car still won't charge on my Evercharge unit (goes straight to charging fault message). A quick trip to the DC charger at our local EA station and the car and charger would complete the handshake but charging would not initiate. I fortunately had enough charge to get to Porsche San Francisco who put me on the DC charger and loaned me a car for a few hours while I charged enough to get back to Carmel (hats off to those guys, they are awesome). Back on the GrizzlE and charging fine. So I have confirmed functioning DC and AC charging but can't seem to connect to network chargers. In case it matters, the only on board charging spec called out on by build sheet is the 150kw/400V DC charger for $460.

Any suggestions on how to further diagnose and fix much appreciated.

It seems like there's a problem with your EverCharge. As far as the EA handshake goes, yea, EA is notorious for doing that.

As I noted in my message, the EverCharge unit has been used regularly by me to charge the Taycan, the problem emerged during a charge session. The Taycan no longer accepts a charge but the unit works correctly on other cars. Unlikely to be the charger that is the problem.

I am familiar with the fussiness of EA chargers. This is a charger I have used recently, I know the charger was functioning, and I tried all the tricks to ensure a connection over 4 successive connection attempt as user and as a guest. No dice. It is most likely that the problem is the car. I am simply hoping if someone has had a similar experience if they can share their solution.

This type of issue is usually associated with the 19.2kW onboard charger that goes bad.
Other possibility as it relates to handshake with EA in particular is a certificate issue.
Also, you mentioned you were able to get to the dealer, they should be able to diagnose by doing error readout, but something is not right with the car based on what you are describing.

Thanks, very helpful. I will ask the dealer to look at the fault codes.

One thing forgot to mention, not a problem that I have seen on the forum since I joined 3+ years ago. Therefore, all of us are very interested what the diagnosis and outcome will be.

Given the verbosity of the Taycan on a wide variety of often imagined ailments, it is infuriating that we just get a non-descript "charging error" when the interaction with the EVSE somehow fails. It would be useful to know what exactly the offence was. Mind, does that charger not itself flag up any diagnostics (even if the car won't)?
