Hi All,

If I spec out my base taycan and the dealership gives me an allocation is there any possibility with any sort of price negotiation?

Thanks

For a custom order, that might be difficult, but I won’t say impossible. If you find a car on the lot somewhere in the country that has been sitting for a little while, you may be able to get a little discount but even that is a stretch at the moment.

With how much the market has softened, I'd say worth trying your luck. Don't think it'll be a huge discount but maybe $1-2k off, or a freebie of some sorts included

Don't know about the US but I got 6% discount over MRSP when I ordered December 2022

doesn't hurt to ask, but dont hold your breath. a lot of new orders are taking 6-12 months to deliver. The demand is so high that dealers aren't desperate. And there are plenty of reports of dealers in california charging over MSRP because the demand is so high.

Your best bet is to find a dealer somewhere in the south or midwest where demand for EVs is tempered and find a car that's been sitting on the lot for a couple months.

I think a key consideration now is that the Taycan is no longer eligible for any tax credit. Alone, that already makes a used car more attractive, and especially how used values have started to soften materially, I would have to assume they'd be willing to play ball on discounts

I barely made it in time for the credit (MY2022 ordered before IRA with $10k deposit, delivered in Dec 2022), but if I hadn't, I would've not taken delivery of my car and instead looked for a used one. The credit made it still make sense, my $112k MSRP really was $104.5k. A <10k mile used car with most of options I wanted is now $95k-$100k, and I'm ok with the small premium to spec the exact options I wanted in hindsight

But with the price bump for 2023s now vs. picking up a $112.5k MSRP CPO 2022 (would cost $116k for MY2023) like this for $90k, I'm pretty sure I'd look for a used car to save $15-25k

No % discounts, but I may be able to ask my SA to throw-in a product for you? He's super great and located at a dealership near you...PM if you'd like his contact.
