Hi All,

I have the 2024 Taycan with the Mission E wheels and recently the "Clunking" noises have been getting really bad when I cut the wheel. Supposedly, it's "Normal" with a cold start, however after I've driven it for at least 30 mins it's still happening but more subtle. Last time I brought it back to Porsche and service advised it's normal. Hmmm I think it's anything but normal at this point. Anyone have this issue?

Also, I'm noticing some weird noises coming from the front of the car now. It's like a wind down ticking noise where it dissipate in around 10-15 seconds...ughh I'm bringing the car back to Porsche again, but just want to see if anyone have similar issues. Thanks

I’m experiencing this exact issue with my 2020 Taycan and it has become so severe that I can feel the feedback in the steering wheel. I’ve been driving it for four years now, and I can confidently say that this is not normal. This problem only started happening to me in the past couple of months. I just dropped it off today and they’re going to attempt to reproduce in the morning.

Regrettably, I’m currently within CPO warranty period, which raises concerns that they might attempt to dismiss this issue as normal and charge me the $375 diagnostic fee.

EDIT: I did further research and it turns out this is normal for Porsches, particularly in cold weather. Search for Ackerman or “acorn” effect. Apparently the noise is louder with Pirelli tires which I had installed last year and this is my first winter driving with them. I messaged my service advisor and requested for them not to diagnose the noise.

One thing I sometime find happening during a left turn in cold weather is a weird sound - not a clunk exactly, but some might call it that.

What I've done to address this is to really stress the front brakes - allowing me to have solid caliper contact with the disk without the interference of regenerative braking.

I accelerate to at least 45 mph, make sure no one is following me, and then slam on the brakes as hard as I can. I do this a couple of times. After this I don't notice any noise.

Give it a try and let me know if it helps or not.

Tyre judder at low speed in cold and damp surfaces is 100% normal - known as the Ackerman Effect.

More pronounced on lower profile tyres / rims 21" above.

All Porsches demonstrate this behaviour.

Ticking may be the cooling fan behind the main display.

In cold weather it’s totally normal. My RS6 did it (on Michelin PS4S) and my Taycan didn’t pretty severely on Pirelli. Interestingly since switching to Hankook Ion Evo, not had it once.
