Additional 'DOT' US rear reflector

Cannot believe that I am only now seeng this but reviewed a number of pics of 2022 CT deliveries here and indeed all the US cars have this additional red rear defector on the side flanks of the car.

Personally don't like it and will be hiding/replacing/removing it later but I see that
1) the current US configurator does not have this item on the car!! and
2) it seems that Euro/GB cars do not have this added reflector?

I think I might have the side ones painted when I get the plastic arches done.

Yet another DOT design intervention as not in European cars?

The configurator doesn’t show the orange ones in the front either. But they sure are there.

Mine has rear red reflectors as well.

Indeed the configurator shows the clear side markers which of course now seems obvious that they are using a Euro spec view of the vehicle on teh US site (brilliant) - since I never saw them on the configurator nor on the cars being displayed from Europe on the forum I was surprised to see them added to my car! Guess I wasn't looking so didn't notice them on pics of US cars before.

Best bet for jet black is to smoke/wrap them. For other colors, you might have to get out the paint can. F'ing DOT!

Bingo - did the vey same thing via IND with rear reflectors on my M4 So these are pre-painted replacements or you had originals painted?

Painted replacements from Bumper Plugs - tossed my originals.

They utilize double-sided tape. Dealer installed them when my replacement drive unit was installed. I didn't witness the work but I imagine they are accessible once the rear tray/diffuser is removed.

Thx - had to laugh at myself as just realized we had the exact same conversation in October - loosing it
