the US charger can not do 32 kW…and has not proven robust - perhaps the European models are better, but the US models are substandard and very expensive vs. competition.

I believe the average life expectancy of a charger is about 5 years depending on usage because of the high power. So I am not surprised if even a quality charger fails after 4 years.
No way! Must have at least the life expectancy of the car, otherwise it is cheap electronics.

Nor can the European charger, it is max 22 kW.

Even so the charger is still way to expensive compared to competition. It does have some UI, but the SW in it, linked to a Home Energy Manager is nothing to write home about. It is quirky to say the least and the manual and documentation is very substandard.

And my charger is not made in Germany.

Or you could consider buying it in eBay for $700, if you need the Porsche Logo.

@amelen it's worth noting that while I'm _NO_ fan of the Porsche Charger and it is insanely over priced at $1,100 for what it is - purchasing the Porsche charger as a Porsche Part after purchase is even more expensive since you have to buy all the components as Porsche Parts - purchasing the Porsche Charger separately as parts is over $3,200

I still believe you're better off with high quality non-Porsche alternatives (ClipperCreek, JuiceBox, ChargePoint, Mustart, Tesla) - but I thought I would just note if…

if your EV charger simply must have a Porsche Logo on it - the cheapest time to do it is with the purchase of the Taycan - later it will be much much more…

that being said - $1,100 is only 2 or 3 times more expensive than excellent high-quality non-Porsche alternatives.
