I need to be educated here. I bailed on a Rivian because there is no phone integration for messaging and no voice control for mapping. Doesn't Taycan have Android Auto and CarPlay so all calls, messaging and navigation can be done via voice? Wouldn't this preclude the use for a phone mount?.
Yes, it has CarPlay and Android Auto.
The main reason people look for a phone mount is because Porsche has chosen the ugliest, most inconvenient phone charging location in the history of cars :).
With the J.1 Taycan it is not only inconvenient but will also overheat. Or not charge.
With the J.1.2 Taycan is is much better: still in the inconvenient elbow-flapping cupboard, but now cooled with a fan and positioned so inductive charging works most of the time.

You can also just dump your phone in the cup holder and use a cable, that’s what I did in my J1; in the J1.2 I now use the phone holder (but have to go back to the car after forgetting it 60% of the time).
