OK, I've updated the first page of this thread with current state of the bugs, feature requests, etc.

Yes, bugs definitely got fixed. Progress is being made. By reading the release notes (previous post) the big problem (waking up and not being an EV, and Nav data not appearing immediately) should be fixed.

Release Notes from Software Update WLC5:
(sorry it took me so long to get to this)

I'll go and see how many of these map directly to verifiable fixes of the bugs I reported.

Note: Just because I reported it, does NOT mean they didn't already know about it! From the dates on the updated software versions, this software was in process (and probably in testing) before I reported my buglist to Porsche.

That is great news Don oh, now it's just a matter of you testing all of those in the fix and closing the defects. ;)

Just spoke with my SA (Turbo arriving 7/20) and talked about the 12 v battery going dead in Don's car. Turns out they had the same problem with the demo Turbo I drove, ie, dead 12v battery in morning. He said Porsche had a whole team there for 2 days and they played with both the charger and the car and apparently all is fine now. Hope so, we'll see...

“...all is fine now.” :)

I have to wonder:
A) They couldn’t get it to happen again = Fine
B) They changed something in software = fine
C) They swapped out a physical part = fine
D) All of the above
E) LOOK A SQUIRREL!!! <<high tail it back to Atlanta>>

This is starting to feel like real work. I’m having flashbacks.

Todays conversation with my SA really started as a question to Porsche-would they install a hardwired laser detector. We both agreed that the last thing we need to do now is add another voltage grabber to the car till all the "bugs" are worked out.
Thoughts?

I would strongly recommend holding off on any modifications to power usage. If you have any problems that would be the first thing they would point at, and understandably so. Wait for the 12 volt system to be stable then consider a hardwired detector.

Here’s my thought on that:
1) the radar detector will be on a switched power feed, so if the car is Off, it can’t drain. (If it’s not on switched power, then it’s been installed incorrectly)
2) My understanding of this bug is that something is waking up some systems in the car, and then failing to put them back to sleep. The battery then takes a few hours of being “awake” before being drawn down to flat. Even if your radar detector is drawing power, all that will change is that AFTER the bug happens, the battery will be dead A little sooner.

My opinion (which is free, and worth what it costs): You won’t harm anything by installing the radar detector.

I agree that as long as its on switched power it should be fine. On your journey did you use any kind of detector?

LOL. Yes. And it took me 5 days of driving to notice it hadn’t gone off even ONCE! “I guess they don’t use Radar in Canada!” Bzzzzzzt! Wrong answer. Correct answer: The windshield was quite effectively blocking all the signals.

I now have a battery powered Escort tucked into the tiny spot that doesn’t block signals.

Is the escort only battery or do you plug in to 12Volt socket?

Seriously, if you are buying a $200K plus car and worried about installing a radar detector because of electrical reliability, just either wait, or buy another car.
