I use one of these along with distilled water: SunJoe Cordless

9/10 times I don't even need the pressure washer and just use ONR and a black or red sponge.

Thank you so much everyone. I’m very tempted to get these tools. 1 questions though, which power washer do you recommend with PPF and ceramic ? SunJoe 3000 XT1 ? My detailer said keep below 1200 PSI but i only see bad reviews about the very weak washers ?
Yes, that is the sunJoe I put in my link above. Very happy with it.

Great. I’ve ordered that. Just wanted to make sure the power is not too much for PPF edges ?

I have PPF and from what I understand you are fine as long as you avoid spraying closely at the seams.

Hi, thanks for this !!! how well does the blower work. I’m thinking to get the same. I feel the more expensive version is pounder, maybe too much for PPF edges and will be hard to move around
I’m very pleased with it! I have the 4HP version and it’s powerful enough to me, and after 3 years my wrap is virtually swirl free. Mine has a few bruises as I don’t have the dolly but the 8 HP is really bulky.
You have several nozzles provided if you want to have a more diffuse air jet.
Never had an issue with any of my wrap lifting! And the ceramic is as it was on the first day 15 months in.
Jet washer wise, I have a Karcher which gives about 1,900psi. I tend to use full power for first stages staying at a min 30-40cm from the car and then use the variable pressure control to dial it down a notch for rinsing.

Don’t you guys use degreasers during winter wash over there? How do you get rid of asphalt and oil etc just by foaming and hand wash?

Degreaser, iron remover and some salt neutralizer (we have Salty here in Norway). For drying, but a proper car dryer with heat. You spent all this money on a car, don’t cheap out.

Regarding when to wash, a new coat of ceramics should get some time to harden. Let it be dirty, don’t wash for a couple of weeks. What you do for the rest of the cars lifetime is more important than these two couple of weeks.
TBH pre wash + foam are usually enough here. A couple of times a year I do use iron fallout remover but mostly on wheels as you have to be careful with PPF/wrap. Same with tar remover, only on tiny spots and once a year.

I’ve never cleaned cars and haven’t owned one for a decade, since I moved to NYC. So I feel I have a lot of anxiety regarding it - more than ev charging! So sorry for the barrage of Q’s but I see a lot of enthusiasts here who go the extra miles to maintain their cars. The people i know either go through drive through - auto wash or just don’t mind water spots.

White carrera white with mission e : It has full PPF & Ceramic coating (Xpel Fusion)

1- My car has a bit of dirt on it, since I brought it back form the PPF service. There’s snow here - so you can imagine. Ceramic was done on friday and I brought the car on Tuesday. Do I hand wash (full wash on sunday), or should I try to atleast rinse to get the mud off ?

I was told it’s better to leave it dirty and do a full hand wash than just rinse as it would leave water spots.

2- Pressure washer or 2 buckets ? what does everyone suggest. what is better for the car ? for rinse and for shampoo ?

3- I won’t take it to an automatic car wash. My choices, hand wash myself at a friend’s place using the 2 bucket system or pressure washer, sonax soap and mitt and drying cloth from (chemical guys). then put the xpel spray over. Or get it hand washed from one of the detailing places ? Ask them to use my supplies ?

4- The company that did the PPF suggested not to use the rinseless stuff, which many on this forum suggested, if living in urban areas.

Many thanks !

this is the current state :
Use ONR - molecular rinse. I use nothing else. A light pre-wash only if caked on mud otherwise ONR alone works on almost anything.

Nice video:

Unfortunately i hate washing cars, and even with the best intentions, i know i'd never do it properly or get the right kit!
I a thinking about getting ceramic on my new car, but given my laziness i will continue to use the professional car wash guy who comes to the house as and when - I'm sure he will use similar products to carwash places, some of which i know can be harsh. I guess i could get him to use my own soaps etc, but even so unless i look after it like you guys do, am i just wasting my money on a product i will 'wash/wear off' after a month or so?
thanks.
