Considering that it sounds like the mechanic that installed the strut really wasn't qualified to work on the car, it could be something really small like missing to add some grease to something or not torquing a bolt the right amount, etc., I don't think it will be fixed unless the strut is pulled out again and then reinstalled by someone who has done a few of them before.
