Extra glass panel between rear window & spoiler

Can anyone explain why there is an extra panel? Can it be removed?
What is under it? If it is required I wish I could have gotten it in body color, not dark glass.

Yes I have the aluminum roof not the all glass roof. This was one of the major changes I made
between my 2020 Taycan and my 2022 Taycan.

Btw, Porsche San Diego has treated me VERY well of the year I owned a Taycan and
traded up to the 2022. Kudos for their customer service!

Its covering the part of the bodyshell above your trunk. I think it’s meant to visually extend the rearwindow downwards. Not sure why its not one piece with the rear glass and blacked out. Maybe cost saving or some production constraint.

If they had made it body color it would have made the rear look much more bulky and ruined the lines on cars with light colors.
