I'm about two weeks out from the recall software update on my '21 4S. I've had a couple of instances since getting the car back where I can hear an unusually loud noise/hum (above music) around 70 mph on the highway. The car is typically so quiet and composed that it's quite noticeable. It was there when I stepped on the power and stopped when I lifted. At first I thought it was an issue with the electric sport sound but toggling on and off did nothing. It wasn't until I accelerated to 77-79 mph that I experienced a rather jarring (for this car) up-shift and the sound disappeared. I don't recall this happening pre-update and typically the shift point should be much earlier. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Thanks in advance.

My RWD is currently at Porsche for drive unit/trans issues. Do you hear this in all drive modes? My noise issue only occurred in SPORT & SPORT+. Car is currently awaiting replacement motor/trans.

My car is newer than the update and my shift point is 78. Sport plus always seems to keep the car in 1st right up to "redline," although once it gets into 2nd it will let me stay there to... not sure, I may never have encountered a downshift when not on the brakes. When I'm hard on the throttle, the change is so abrupt that it's kind of violent. When I'm not hard on the throttle, they are actually pretty slow -- like a traditional slushbox -- and I likely wouldn't notice them if not for the sport sound. I've never experienced anything different, but I hadn't considered any of this to be abnormal.

I haven't noticed any droning, but I'm not sure I would have. If I'm in sport plus I've got sport sound on, and if I'm not in sport plus I'm in normal and rarely get gear changes at all.

no droning but mine shifts up at 77-79mph in sport or sport+, I cannot feel where is shifts up in normal. In normal the downshift (on full throttle) is noticeable, in sport or sport+ is downshifts 40-50mph regardless of throttle.

I noticed the exact same thing, at first I thought the car was broken and I needed to bring it back to Porsche but then I realized that it just shifts at a higher speed. I do agree shifting is rather loud compared to the pre-update, I can only assume that is because the motor is winding up to the higher speed.

Turn off sport sound and switch between normal and sport and listen. Mine was VERY loud in first gear.
