I did not opt for this feature as part of my spec.
Amazed that such a small chip on the periphery has knocked the whole system out.

Can you get any camera view at all?

Also wondering if it can be fixed in any way?
I've seen glass repairs to chips on windscreens and watches that look perfect.
Could it potentially work again with a repair?
They cannot get me in until a week from today so will see what transpires. I will post the more in depth diagnosis and remedy.

I was gonna say this. Is it a crack or a chip and could you get it professionally polished out without going through the glass?

I also have the night vision assist. The sensor is smaller, but still faces head on to oncoming debris..

That’s not the camera. That’s the radar. The camera is just fine which is behind the rearview mirror.

Really? Less than 20k miles and a part that controls all adaptive functions, even dumb cruise control, is lost/damaged from normal highway driving and I am supposed to cough up $9k bc of a rock chip???

My iPhone has the ability to apply a thin film that absorbs drops and strikes with much better protection.
If this was a wide spread problem with Taycans, you might have an argument. I haven't seen a lot of folks report it. Any car can be damaged even in the first 100 miles of ownership. I can show you potholes which are sure to kill almost any car if you drive through them at high speed. Stone on the road chip/break windshields all the time. Fluke things happen, especially on the road where your car is going at very high rate of speed. That is what insurance is for.

$9,000 price tag on the other hand sounds ludicrous.

I call BS. My radar done has been peppered, and I don’t get any warnings. You should push that they haven’t found the issue yet.

My old A8 had the same radar fully dented by rocks and after 200k km worked perfect.

I'm sure there is a dent large enough to break it. Probably very rare, but could happen.

Raise the issue with Porsche NA, sounds like you’re being ripped off, especially if others have chips and their system still works fine… will need to check mine now.

Curious what the product specs say, but you'd think the plastic bubble is just a radome and not the actual radar, itself. Unless it's all one integrated unit (sounds like a dumb design decision for a part that's exposed to road debris), the radome should be replaceable.

You'd also think that damage to the radome shouldn't really have that much impact on the performance of the radar - I'm wondering if something else is wrong and they're just blaming things on that...

Kind of like: Oh, I see you're heads-up-display is totally dead. See that tiny chip on the windshield? Oh yeah, that's totally causing it... warranty denied!

Typical Dealership trying to Deny a Warranty issue. I brought my car in for a Defective Heater replacement and they called me and asked if i would authorize an hour worth of Labor to move my LED Underglow. I said absolutely not. It's two wires to push aside under the hood. Then they called me and asked if I would authorize a half hour worth of labor to remove a GPS Unit in my OBD2. I said absolutely not. It's not mine anyways. Pull it and toss it on the ground.
They charge $270 an hour.
I have a note on my car to NOT pur the car on the lift because they will crush my Underglow LED'S.
The mechanic still put it on the lift and crushed my passenger side LED leaving it destroyed and not working. If he would have paid attention to how he puts the jack paid into the slot it never would have happened.
Now the Dealer is buying me a whole new LED Underglow set and I'm going to Charge them 3 hours to pull and replace my Underglow set.
Service manager didn't fight me on it at all. Because he knew it was the right thing to do...
He's one of the Good Service Managers out there...
