I went to my dealer today. I asked about ARB7 and he looked up my car in the system. Then he showed me the screen, it says Porsche conducted the software test OTA on Jan 25 (or similar, it was time stamped as well). They found no issues thankfully. My rep said that no further action is required but looking at the recall, it does say Porsche will update th HV battery software. So I am going to ask him about that when I go back

My car is at the dealer now (dead AC charger). It has open on it: ARB7, WRA6 (replacing the vehicle side of mobile charger cable... LOL), WRW1 (external comms unit). Mine is a 22.

The ARB7 "has no remedy at this time"

Yes, if your car is sending data they may have information but the specific battery / software update to monitor this condition for ARB7 is not available yet.

Service manager said they do expect it soon, and have a massive backlog of customers waiting for it.

Notified by email today from NHTSA that the previous High Voltage Short Circuit issue has been expanded. This issue is associated with a fire risk. Letters are being mailed on or about 11/29/24 with a projected first quarter fix. Porsche will install advanced diagnostic software and will notify affected owners. If affected, they will advise not to charge above 80% until the battery module can be replaced. My guidance is not to charge above 80% until the car can be diagnosed (Q1 2025).

You might want to consider not charging in your garage, which has been my practice since 2021.

Porsche internal designation is recall ARB6 & ARB7.

Here is the link for the recalls, both were dated 10/01/2024:
https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=24V731 This covers 2020-2023 Taycan

https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=24V732 This covers 2020-2024 Taycan
Is there any indication that this applies to MY25 cars as well?

I have mine scheduled for the same on March 12th, and similarly am due for the two year flush. Will see if they throw in the flush or not. Will also be another data point on the diagnostic software availability for ARB7.
Into the dealership today for 2yr + brake line recall. SA mentioned a PCM update but didn't expand on it. Did say they weren't going to charge for brake flush because of the brake line work?. Didn't have any info on ARB7 though. Not really a helpful update for the thread I guess, just another "nothing yet" update. He's been really great with regular status updates when the car has been in the shop previously, so if anything does come up in the next 4~5 days I'm confident he'll reach out.

the article on the Porsche app - discover Porsche says they bought part of the Varta batteries company..and they are already using them on the 911 GTS.... is this a hope for a new Taycan (who knows how far!) with Varta batteries maybe better and more reliable than now?!
I think that was by necessity, after Porsche's first choice for electric 718 batteries went bankrupt.

My car was ARB7 but then they escalated to ARB6, fun fact I luckily found out about it because I went to the dealer to have the car checked for another thing.. so I wouldn’t rely 100% on the remote checking considering the potential damage/risk
That is NOT cool.

The cells they manufacture are less performant than even the ones made by lg for taycan j1 my20.
It's old technology.
They will likely continue to use it only for hybrid cars and maybe 12v batteries, while trying to bring new chemistry/product to market 5+ years in the future.

Hilarious. So my car now has BOTH ARB6 and ARB7 listed. This was updated as of 3/4/25. Previously (this is checking on the US Porsche recall system) it was only listed as ARB7 and that is what dealer confirmed 2 weeks ago when I dropped the car off for the charger problem.

Car is still sitting at dealer waiting for a 19.2kw charger.

So far I'm not noticing a lot of difference in the PCM, but for some reason it seems a bit snappier, and the My Porsche app seems a bit faster too.

Now wait and see if my battery is A-OK.

I had the same OTA update 15 days ago moving to the K3882 version.
Yesterday my 2023 GTS was at the dealer shop and they made a control of the HV battery and install a software for controling. New appointement taken in 60 days to download all datas that will be recorded during this period.
I never received any letter for this recall.
I also made the first 2 years service for 668 €. (France Bordeaux). It would have been 900 € if arb6 not done.
For instance only few bugs fixed by closing 15 minutes my Taycan and 480 kms range but mostly recharged at 5,7 KWH.
So less issues than my 911 cab (1 turbo broken after 7000 kms) and my Cayenne Hybrid (oil leaks after 1500 kms : joint spi broken between gearbox and the transfer box)
My Renault 4 was in fact much better but 90 km/h max ?

UPDATE
So after the update I noticed that I didn't get the usual "Goodbye" popup in the PCM when shutting the car down (long press on the Power button). Also, I couldn't see any current version numbers.

Two-Finger Reset was required, and now the PCM is back to normal. For the record, the following are the versions of various items --
  • Software Version - MPR3_US_POG46_K3882
  • PCM Software Version - 3882
Hope this helps.

One More Update
I don’t know if this is true for everyone, but my PCM seems a lot snappier for start up as well as connectionto CarPlay. I’d be interested in knowing what everyone else thinks.

Before seeing this general thread, I also posted this in the UK specific ARB6 thread ….

My UK ARA4 recall was completed July-August 24. Analysis of the car’s logs showed one module needed replacing and the others were ok. I thought that was it.

Last week I received the ARB6 recall. Its impacts are:
- do not charge under/in or adjacent to a building
- workshop attention every 60 days
- maximum charge 80%

From this it seems that the ARA4 recall and Porsche’s previous analysis, both OTA and the VAL submission that was the basis of the module replacement, cannot be relied upon.
The delay in availability of the ‘smoke alarm’ monitoring sw also seems to indicate that its development is troublesome.

- Has any one else who has already had a module swap recall now also received ARB6?
- Compared to mine above, were any different charging constraints communicated to you?
- If you have OTA monitoring and updates in place, do you also now need a workshop visit every 60 days? (This indicates OTA monitoring is unreliable?).
- How are you coping with the ‘don’t charge under or near any building’ constraint? Are you still parking next to other cars while charging? (Where do Porsche dealers charge cars that have this constraint?)

I understand that 2019 ipace models (also with LG batteries) were scrapped because dealers considered them unsafe to work on and because of the repair costs.
Some Mercedes with LG batteries are also under recall and have charging constraints.

They said the software patch would be released in Q1, so it should all be sorted in a couple of days time. Or did they leave that bit out of your letter?

In answer to your questions, I’m still waiting for my 100metre long charging extension cable so I can charge away from buildings.

Latest rumour for a while is that the monitoring software expected during Q1 (my dealer wasn't optimistic it would be ready before end of March even at the beginning of January) will now be available in Q2...
Until then I think the uncertainty will inevitably continue and even with monitoring software exactly how any problem may develop is uncertain I suspect.

My car's in for service today - OPC confirmed the monitoring software is NOT available yet.
