My mtb weights about 12 kg so it is not due to overload. I noticed my plastic brackets were snapped when I was about to remove the bike. it's not a well thought out solution with plastic hinges and I'm still amazed that porsche claims they are broken due to improper use. but if others now start to have the same problem, I may try once more to contact porsche, especially if Perski from Norway has luck with his porsche dealer. How did the plastic parts break? (Just curious) I have the carrier myself, but never had to use pressure when folding/unfolding. I checked all 4 of the parts and they feel solid. Can it be a temperature thing? I see both of you come from “colder” counties?
I only have light non e-bikes on the rack. Min broke when folding in the trays. There are tabs on the plastic part that broke. These have to press in a stiff spring loaded mechanism that is securing the upright loop with the bike arms. I always had to use some force to overcome the spring tension, a bit too much as it turns out :crying:

Seriously? Do the Porsche bike racks really break, even with a bike weighing 12kg? Pffff. I just use a Thule rack in combination with this solution.

I bought the porsche bike carrier January 2023 (in Denmark) and now one of the hinges for the pivital arms supporting the weels have broken. The hinges for those parts are made from plastic (yes plastic) even though it must be worlds heaviest and most espensive bike carrier. Porsche Denmark sent pictures to germany which says it is misusage (how can they conclude that from pictures). Germany says they never seen this problem before and will therefore not compensate!
Anyone else had this issue? How can you make plastic hinges and espect they will last. And NO, I have not used the carrier for transporting other than two bikes.

Has to be a design fault - I would speak to Thule who are more than likely the OEM for this outrageously expensive bike carrier (note new Macan EV supports both towbar and the original Thule / Porsche cycle carrier for half the price - Taycan was clearly an afterthought).

Typically 12 months warranty - you're just over but I would have expected a goodwill gesture at the least. I see mention of 2 years for EU (not heard that one before) but no doubt there are caveats to that too.

I'd be fizzing if this happened to me (I was fizzing when I couldn't option a towbar on my ST / Saloon to use with my original Thule and so as a silent protest didn't invest in this one).

That looks neat - is that a home project or available in the market?

Porsche here in Norway did give me a new rack on warranty :like: . Perhaps a bit worrying that they gave me a whole new bike rack rather than just replace the small broken plastic bit. The rack is produced by Atera, but sufficiently different from any of their other models to be helpful for repairs. Also couldn't find any other manufacturers using the same design, which perhaps explains the somewhat outrageous price-tag.

The new one does include this helpful graphic about how you're supposed to fold the trays.
