Is there a way to "force quit" a CarPlay app from the touchscreen?

Every now and then Waze enters a crash state and won't work unless it's "force quit" and restarted. I can do that easily enough from my iPhone of course but, while driving, I'd much prefer to do it from the touchscreen.

I have this question too. Waze freezes upon departure about half the time and requires force quit from the iPhone.

Have to do it from the phone. Waze isn’t crashing, it’s failing to exit sleep mode. Something changed in CarPlay last year that hosed it up.

Hmmm... Well, that's certainly frustrating.

This seems to be a waze problem. I have seen this on a completely different car brand. My guess is it is a privacy issue with how waze is sharing data that for some reason conflicts with iPhoneOS privacy rules and they are asking for the correct affordances. Google maps and apple maps seem not to have this issue.

i found the only way i can fix it is force quit waze on the phone (swipe up) and then relaunching seems to cure the issue. I cannot find a way from the screen. My other car has only a wired connection so the phone is always at hand.

You can also avoid it by starting Waze before CarPlay connects.

Yup same here, Waze has been like this for a while, across multiple cars. And I do not know any way to quit it from CarPlay, have to "swipe up" and restart. Sometimes when I wait it will crash on its own and then I can launch again but its not worth it.
