Hi, had My car for a year now and can’t seem to resolve how when I have the radio on, and the phone connects to CarPlay, periodically I lose audio and need to go back to the radio, find the favorite and select it again. Similarly, when stationary, if I browse a website on my phone it will often stop the audio and I need to repeat the above. Seems like a conflict with CarPlay but hoping somewhere there is a setting to stop this as it’s damned annoying I.e. I want the radio audio prioritised over everything else unless I select a music app in CarPlay.

hope that makes sense & any advice gratefully received.

I think what you are describing is more a function of CarPlay than the connection to the car itself. This happens to me regardless whether it’s the Taycan, the Defender or the BRZ, especially when there’s an ad or music that kicks in when the phone connects to the car. At least be grateful that the connection with the Taycan dies pretty quickly because in my defender it’ll restart itself if I’m close to it. It’s just annoying.

This is not entirely related, but I had an issue with Apple CarPlay working intermittently on my Taycan. For reasons that I could not fathom, CarPlay would work for a time then become completely unavailable. I would delete and re-add my iPhone and sometimes that would solve the problem and other times it wouldn’t. I finally took the car into my local Porsche service center and they confirmed the issue and diagnosed a faulty PCM which was replaced to the tune of $6000 (fortunately it was covered by my extended warranty).

Now CarPlay works, or so I thought...

The issue popped up again, though not as frequently as before. After much head scratching, the culprit turned out to be the PCM was “confused” because I had my Apple Airpod Pros plugged into the USB-C charging port in the center console. The PCM was trying to pair the AirPods to the CarPlay mode of the PCM. Unplugging the AirPods from the charging cable solved the issue entirely. Who woulda thunk it???
