M&S snow has nothing to do with being good in mud or snow. It is simply a designation for a certain void to tread ratio and tread design.
“In order for a tire to get the RMA's mud and snow designation it must meet the following geometric design criteria: Tires must have multiple pockets or slots in at least one of its treads that extend toward the tread center at least 1/2 inch (about one centimeter) from the footprint edge, measured perpendicularly to the tread centerline. The tire must also have a minimum cross-sectional width of 1/16 inch, and its edge of pockets or slots has to be at an angle of between 35 and 90 degrees from the direction of travel. In addition, the tire tread contact surface void area should be at least 25 percent, based on mold dimensions.”

First set lasted around 28k Km
So that would that be 28Mm (Mega meters) then, if strictly sticking to the metric system? Not to be confused with 28mm (millimeters) ;)

? … Don’t make that a thing
Come on, what's the point of having a proper system if we are not going to use it? Let's not screw it up like the British system (how long is a mile, how big is a gallon, what is a British ton, is ounce a unit of volume or weight -> none of those questions have an unambiguous answer). :p

As long as it doesn't use unknown sized body parts, I'm fine with it.

28.000.000 meters is fine too.

28 million meters sounds good. Tire marketing guys should love this - I can see the poster already "60 million meters tread guarantee!"

Small update.

My last Goodyear F1 set lasted 40.000.000 meters!

Then the left rear wheel profile started to split up at 120km/h (max legal limit on our highway if you get my drift) while I still was half an milimeter above the safety marks.

Wasn't a big deal besides the terrible noise of a high spinning 30cm long rubber thread hitting the chassis x times per minute.

Pulled over, grabbed a skalpel (Don't ask why I have that kind of crap in my car. I'm not even a doctor) and cut it off. On my way home called my tire guy.

Not sure how but I ended wanting to try something new so I ordered the Hankook iON EV sound absorber.

Had to wait a few days as they were out of stock everywhere except Netherlands.

Really really different feeling compared to the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 5 NF0

I'm not sure if better or worse just different.

Things I noticed so far:

- New tires are MUCH quieter. It's really noticeable (they have some kind of sponge in the interior to absorb sound).

- the ackerman effect is greatly reduced in very slow full corner turns. You feel the jerk but not the loud "klang" when the tire skips.

- reduced force input when steering away from straight forward. It was something I only noticed when I swapped the tires. With the Goodyears a small amount of force is needed to take the car out of its straight path. The hankook obey at the finger tip. You don't feel "the center" anymore. It can give you the impression the steering isn't as locked in in a straight line so that can be good or bad. The self centering force is still very high and as high as with the Goodyears. You just seem to need way less force to break it.

Overall I'm happy with the choice but only time will tell how they fare.

Goodyears are excellent until you approach end of life. Then they start to go bonkers in different ways. I had a front wheel literally start to blister on it's sidewall (big balloon shape) and rip apart and also that profile detaching on the rear wheel.

69600km on the clock, just started on my third tire set 👌

Cheers
Tony
