I installed both dash cam and radar detector without any issues. But your suggestion here not to have key nearby is a good idea in hindsight. For radar I tapped into driver side fuse box and for dash cam I tapped into passenger side (empty fuses) and used a multimeter. I did have my heart in mouth when I connected ground and had a slight spark, but no fuses blown and both install down under 20 minutes.
in hindsight not having they key nearby would have been a good idea. But I was able to hardwire both the radar and the dash cam with parking mode kit without any problems. For radar I used the fuse tap on driver side and for dash cam on passenger side I used some empty fuses that were for ACC and Bat+(always on). I did have my heart in my mouth when I connected the ground and there was a slight spark, but no blown fuses and everything worked out fine with both install complete under 20 minutes.

Great installs, but I’m very curious why you would tap into the fuse panel when a mirror tap install is much easier???

I did the mirror tap for my Uniden R7 and the total install took no more than 10 mins. I think it looks super clean and the Uniden powers and on and off perfectly with the car.

Who doesnt like a good thread resurrection?

So the butt connector is the add-a-circuit and the blue-clear end is the hardwire power adapter from the valentine V1 gen2. Am I supposed to just cut these and splice/heat shrink the together or something? They obviously do not connect together and I am so confused.

Well I figured it out.

The Valentine V1 Gen 2 came with a wire crimp (similar to these T-Tap self-stripping connectors). I have made plenty of custom sleeved USB cables and have a heat gun and shrink, solder etc so was ready to do all that if needed but with the T-Tap crimp it's totally unnecessary. I guess you can snip off the quick-connect on the radar detector adaptor, strip the wire and connect it to the quick connect on the circuit adapter and crimp it, if you have a crimping tool.

So the only add-a-circuit at my local Auto Zone was not the right size for the Taycan's fuse box, which I only learned after crimping the wire. Oops.

I grabbed the right size add-a-circuit adapter (largest size in this combo pack), crimped a T-Tap spade connector to the wire, connected the V1 Gen2 adapter to it and ran the power cable through the A-pillar, behind the trim at the top of the windshield, down to the rearview mirror and am good to go.
