Jeremy I don’t even know what to say, I am genuinely flattered, thank you so much for doing this. It is extremely helpful, even if slightly scary.
Lol, I was originally going to do this against the side of my garage and then I imagined the conversation with my wife after I scraped the car or broke a mirror off.

“?…and how did you scrape the car again?”

“?Well…you see…I was just trying to drive the car as close to the wall as possible.”

“?…why would you do that?”

“?Well…you see….someone on the internet asked me to.”

“?…someone one on the internet told you to drive the car into a wall and you just do it?”

“?Well….you see…no…technically…they just asked what the cameras look like.”

“?…and then you thought to drive the car into the wall? And that would help them?”

“?Hmm…yes….I think that sums it up.”

Chalk lines it was. I avoid lots of problems by imaging how stupid my wife will think I am later. ? Years of practice at that.

Really, I’m spoiled by having a two-car garage to park the Taycan in (or…I don’t have enough cars ?) and I was curious what the 218cm would look like. Honestly, doable. Scary?. But doable.

Okay…and separately…has anyone else noticed how the mirrors are asymmetric? PSA: Get the mirrors in body color so it’s less noticeable.

Haha. Nice one. Glad you didn’t. You are a lucky man.

...I was able to pull in and out multiple times and stay between the lines fairly easily. So, I think if you just line up the front/back camera guidelines and keep it straight, you will be fine. ?
I use that method (well, lines of duct tape rather than chalk), but I just wanted to acknowledge your impressively thorough demonstration to help a fellow forum member. (Your neighbours might initially have been looking forward to some amazing street art on your drive ? )

Fully agree. I am humbled. I've actually felt good since the start of my day thanks to Jeremy @Jhenson29. Also loved the humour about "cm".

Me too. I went to Imperial College to study engineering just when the UK dropped Imperial units in favour of SI which meant all the text books were full of the "wrong" units, so I got pretty good at conversions.

Amusingly "cm" isn't an official SI unit, just a size easy for a human to relate to, since the meter and millimeter are, respectably, too big and too small.

I can't express how impressed I am by somebody who can draw to within a 'thou with pink chalk.

To this day, I thank God that I just missed having to use Imperial measures for secondary school subjects (especially when seeing past exam papers).

It was also complex when I started work, most drawing offices were full of people who had only designed in Imperial units so a bit of a gulf between older and newer employees in attitude as well as experience.

I remember one of the prototype technicians bringing a part he was making to the (older) designer asking how he was supposed to finish it. He had made it in mm the designer in inches, so he had made a 1:25.4 model of the part - quite impressive but not much use.

When I moved into motor racing full time in 1976 the teams I worked for were still in inches, not least since most standard bearing and tube sizes hadn't changed yet.
At Williams we changed fully to metric in 1983 when we started installing the Honda engine which was all metric and inches confused the Honda DO!

o_O mind well and truly blown ?
I'm impressed that any serious calculation with ***EDIT*** Imperial SI units* was undertaken before the age of pocket calculators...I guess I'd have been more appreciative of slide rules and log tables.
(* see- it still confuses me )
