Whelp, I just got notified that my Porsche Connect services are about to expire. Porsche no longer offers the yearly subscription. It's monthly-only now, but I believe the price is the same. $26.49/mo = $317.88/yr plus tax. I don't use any of the PCM services. I'm Apple CarPlay 100% of the time, but the phone app, being able to lock/unlock the doors and pre-condition the cabin, those I'll miss. I think I'm going to let it expire and see how painful it is not being able to use the phone app.

Tesla's price for "Premium Connectivity" is $100/yr, which is palatable for me. $300+ and I'm thinking it's not worth it. 😥

I was going away for the weekend last week and thought I might signup for a year and then decide whether to cancel in the cooling off period if I did not use the app. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they now offer the service on a monthly subscription. I signed up and I have to say I am pretty underwhelmed.

We also have a Tesla M3 and an e-Golf, both have subscription apps which are a lot cheaper and offer a lot more functionality.

With the Porsche app, I can still pre-heat the car without the subscription. The things I want it for are viewing the state of charge and the satellite maps, the latter I can live without.

I will probably cancel after a month but it is nice to have the monthly option. This means that if I am going away and state of charge is important, I can subscribe for a month.

BTW, in the Porsche app I can see the status of the door locks but I cant find where I can unlock/lock the car from. Am I missing something or is this not an option in the app?

On the front page of the app are 3 buttons under the charge indicator. The first is for preheat/cool, the second looks like the key touch that and there you can select lock or unlock. The third fwiw allows you to blw the horn I beleive though I haven't tried it.

Looks like it’s not supported on 2020 models
