I’ve had a message saying it’s nearing renewal time (£269.00) Is it worth renewing? What will I lose ?

My Connect subscription will be ending at the end of the year. My thought was to let it expire and see, for a couple of months I suppose, if I can live without it. If not, then it is easy enough to just reactivate it.

I think it's anything that you use/control on the app. So you'd need to check in the car to see if it needs filling up with electric etc. I think the security package is on top of this, which may be relevant for your insurer i guess.

You will probably also soon have the option to pay for the Porsche Charging service at something like 25 GBP per month. So in total Porsche are looking to get about 50 GBP per month from you.

I had and still have a huge number of issues with Porsche Connect. My services work one day and not the next. They have given discounts and tried to help but still not good.

Compared to our Tesla for 9.99 Euros per month for both connection and charging, it is a complete rip off!

I only really use the pre heating / cooling. I use Apple car play for most other things

Connect is so far a complete waste of money. We have a CT4 and a SS4. I’ve driven without it in my 4S for about 6 months and don’t miss it. Also Connect makes the PCM slower somehow…

It won’t… it stopped working for me when connect subscription ended
Sadly yeah Electric Sidecar relies on having an active Porsche Connect subscription for all over the air data to your vehicle.

That being said, if you are open to using an OBD scanner with your car then you can still get trip telemetry and latest SoC data by using a scanner. Assuming you’re the primary driver of your car then this will at least provide you with insight on SoC in the ways you’re used to.

Remote commands of course won’t work, unless I find some way to build an internet connected scanner that can remotely interact with the vehicle ?

I welcome all the electronic features that have come along in the past 5 years and don’t mind paying for them if the price is reasonable . I get it if you think it’s overpriced or shouldn’t be an add on . Porsche - like mercedes and others is trying to make us pay for things that should be standard on these expensive cars but the subscription model is here to stay and if it funds additional R and D to make these features better I’m all for it. Hopefully the subscription model will make these companies offer improvements on our current vehicles instead of having to buy a new car to get the newest Tech.

I received the same message at the one year anniversary of my initial sign up. Here in the US my purchase contract came with a three year subscription. I clicked on the renewal to check and my subscription rolled over for another year with no fee. Hope yours does too!
