The Perfect EV if you ask me...
Dee , which do you think is the perfect EV? just asking ;)

anyway, these numbers are crazy high and it appears that it is what is being reported by the car (vs. some calculations or "internet math") which is kind of remarkable. Is it a difference in the 4S (most reviews that had good range of 240ish were turbo)? The speed - 90kmh is not exactly hypermiling, more like crowded highway driving? Software update? Any ideas?

Hello there,

thanks for the original posting. I took it as a reason to call it quits earlier today - Corona is depressing enough - and to do a little Autobahn test. Assuming that the electricity consumption sensor of the T4S is correct, I could replicate 15.2 kWh over a distance of 10kms (OAT about 14° Celsius, no wind, dry weather). This is at constant 90km/h, at the entry, the end and during the trip. See picture #1.

The everyday problem with that is that the car likes to be driven normally, as can be seen on picture #2.

Cheers and YMMV,
Henrik

PS: The second picture was taken by my son.

English version:
I drove Turbo S and experienced the shift-down from 20 MPH. It was a shocking forward leap.

He says that the “autopilot” does a poor job keeping the car in the middle of the lane. Can anyone confirm that? I know that Porsche claims that it can and does keep the car in the middle of the lane.

Hello there,
He says that the “autopilot” does a poor job keeping the car in the middle of the lane. Can anyone confirm that?
I can't confirm it by 100%, because the autopilot (aka "innodrive") seems - if anything - quite complex to operate. It seems to me that it has too many switch directions, to many modes that you switch through, too many surprises. I may have to re-read the manual twice, but hey, it is not intuitive to me. This means that I may have missed some autopilot options.

That being said, my impression from using the autopilot (aka "innodrive") is that it does have problems:
  • The car seems to undulate, i.e. swing slowly back and forth, between its perceived left and right lane markers.
  • Sometimes, the autopilot loses it completely, for example at construction sites with difficult lane markers.
  • The switchoff of the autopilot can be very abrupt.
  • The following is probably "as designed", but sometimes - even after a longer slow pace - the autopilot reads a traffic sign (or other input?) and decides to re-accellerate to some previous speed setting, long forgotten in the driving mammal's brain.
Cheers,
Henrik

That video drives like my Volt's lane keeping. Meant to keep you from driving off the road accidently. I didn't get it in my order as I like to drive.

That way you are excluded from future updates.
If it is that bad, which I doubt as every (high)way is different, Porsche wouldn't be Porsche if they allow themselves to have disappointed customers.
It's just not the way Porsche works and have worked.

Sorry if I offended you Dee. It was not meant to criticize Porsche which I have owned with my first on in 63 and my first 911 in 66. BTW I love your country! Visited it more than any other place while I was in Europe for three years.

I wasn't offended at all, lol!
I'm just saying it'll be ok (if it as bad as people say it is).
You can criticize Porsche all you want, it'll make them make the cars even better! ;-)
