Hi all

Planning on putting my order in next week for a Sport Turismo 4S (UK order). Debating the multitude of options and have some questions…

1. Sport Chrono Pack - not bothered for clock or sport plus mode but do want to be able to easily switch between other modes….. is the dial on steering wheel that useful….. or is there an easy way to switch driving modes without it (eg a button somewhere else without having to navigate through menus).

2. Passenger Display - what are thoughts on this. I can’t help but love the way it extends screens across whole front - but is it actually useful?

3. Seats - thinking of going for partial leather interior with 14 way comfort seats + ventilation. Any major benefit of going for the 18 way sports seats?

4. From what I understand the 22kw charger option is a bit pointless in UK - especially if will only be charging at home (single phase) or on motorway at rapid charger - but the 150kw DC charger option is useful as would mean can use any rapid charger including available Tesla ones. Agree??

5. Colour - so many choices here but swaying towards volcano grey with black window trims/door handles - and black interior.Good choice?

Thanks for your help!!

1. Not sure this is essential
2. Looks nice but fairly useless. I still ordered it!
3. More adjustment ‘ support?
4. Yes to 150kw upgrade, 22kw depends on your home set up and where you will be using the car
5. A very biting combination. It’s nearly what I chose! Go with it if you like it, it looks good.

1. I have it, it’s nice to have, but it’s easy to change modes by menus (on steering wheel)
2. I have it, nice for passenger, almost useless for driver.
3. Don;t have 18way sports seats (14); try to check them. Some members reported that they didn;t like them
4. Don;t know for UK; very useful for me since i can chsrge on 3-phases, 400V, 32ampers.
5. Personal choice. As you can see, i prefer bright colours and i;d never buy black, dark gray, etc…
my favourites: chalk, coffe-biege, ice blue, mamba green… but, your money, your choice. Good luck.

1. I added this and having done the PEC at Silverstone I think it is very useful
2.Don't see the point, my wife hated it on the test drive vehicle
3.That is my choice too.
4. Spot on definitely 150kw DC but not the 22kw AC
5. Each to his/her own... I went for Dolomite Silver with black window surrounds etc and PEC vehicle was very similar to my order with black partial leather, 20" rims which gave me a few hours in something very close to my spec.
Volcano Grey is great as is Ice Grey but shame about cost

1. Yes for resale and the side benefit of quickly changing ride height.
2. No.
3. Yes…14 way.
4. Unnecessary for now. If you plan to upgrade your home for the long haul to provide 22KW, then maybe. In the mid-long term 22KW may become more standard.
5. Totally a personal decision. Grey looks great….find a way to get some other contrast though.

Good luck. You are on the right path!

1. Yep easy to change when u need it
2. My wife like it so I order it
3. 14 is good enough, heard some have issue with 18 ways
4. Nop idk about UK but 11kwh system in US is good enough (most of time we charge when we sleep)
5. IMHO light color fits taycan more.

Definite for the mode switch on steering wheel.
You dont need passenger display in my opion, centre display is good.
18 way adaptive seats for me. Comfortable and great support
Unless you have 3 phase supply 22kw not needed, but add the 150kw. Great for fast charge.
Went for flat black and had full PPF wrap looks great

1. This thread may be useful on Sport Chrono...
https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/sport-gravel-button.8514/

2. I've not got it. Opinions vary, depending on use. I think @tigerbalm says its very useful for copilot Nav on his road trips.

3. Can't comment. Got basic seats as upgrades slowed order (chip shortage) when I got my car.

4. UK concensus seems to be:
- 150kw DC charger is a must at the (low) price.
-22kw AC not usually necessary (high cost) unless you had 3 phase at home.
But there are more public charges being rolled out (eg London kerbside), so probably depends on location/charging at home?

5. Colour is personal preference. Taycan just looks great in almost all the colours!

1. Non essential. The central PCM has a 'My Home' view which is configurable using widgets. Three widgets can be displayed side by side and one of which is drive mode (Range, Normal, Sport). Simple therefore to change whilst driving. For MY23 onwards (latest software updates brings this to all MYs) the drive mode can also be selected on the main digital cockpit display by using the thumb wheels on the steering wheel. Without Sports Chrono you are missing an additional and configurable drive mode - Individual.

2. Skip. Too expensive for what it is IMHO.

3. Go extended leather and skip 18-way. Ventilation is pointless for UK. No actual cooling and just fans pushing ambient air.

4. 22kW option is handy but over priced and likely have limited use in UK unless you have more AC chargers in your locale than DC. Standard is 11kW which also would require 3 phase home supply to max out. For home overnight charging a dedicated 32A supply will provide 7.4kW which is just fine.

150kW option is worth having. BP Pulse 150kW EVSEs (for example) are 400v. Tesla Supercharger network is also 400v but only limited access just now worth checking which ones you could use to avoid disappointment.

5. I'm biased but Volcano Grey is a great colour but don't spoil it with black door handles. I also would skip black window surrounds - silver works well as a contrast.

^ Wise advice. Contrast is key. There are quite a few black details at the front that are less prominent with dark paint tones (so that's down to personal preference). Gloss black trim options could get lost against Volcano- silver trim could work better. If you want black trim and interior, and prefer grey colours, have you checked out Dolomite Silver?

1. Waste of time. A grandfather clock on the dashboard ruins the beautiful futuristic aesthetics. Btw you can switch sport mode via a touch on the climate panel.

Thanks all for your advice so far. With Sport Chrono pack - the configuartor mentions you get a different steering wheel also?? Is this important? And what is difference to standard?

I can’t recall…but i think that the difference is visible on configurator, isn’t it?

Been having another look through configurator and am also wondering if I should save some cash and go for the standard (8 way seats). From what I can tell main difference is lumbar adjustment which I’m not sure I really need (have had on cars previously and don’t recall ever really adjusting). Thoughts?

Residual value not really a concern for me as car will be leased.

It looks slightly different with some bolts visible on the wheel and most importantly, it adds the dial to change modes!
