I like the HUD so much, that it makes me sad that my polarized sunglasses dim it severely. Most of the time, it still works out that I'm able to see it, but any of the blue lettering (mostly the distance to next turn for navigation instructions) can be really hard to see...

I'm still undecided whether I should live with the situation, or swap my sunglasses for non-polarized ones.

There have also been reports of certain brands of polarized lenses working well with the HUD. My polarized vision raybans almost completely delete the HUD reflection off the windshield.

I don't use the Porsche nav too much, so maybe I haven't noticed the issue with blue lettering, but with HUD brightness at max, I can see everything with my Persol polarized sunglasses.

Rotate your head and see if it gets better. If it does, you could have sunglasses made with polarized lens rotated. I see it dimmed via my sunglasses, but gets brighter as I tilt my head to the right - if the driver in front of me is looking his rear view mirror, he's probably thinking "that Taycan driver looks confused". Next time I order a pair of sunglasses I will probably ask them to rotate the polarization by 35 degrees or so (will measure it first).

Yeah, I also tilt my head a little to see it clearer. Rotating the lenses, at least fully, would not have the best effect: Sunglasses block horizontally polarized light, since that’s what most specularly reflected light is. Rotating the lenses would let the “wrong” light through, except for the HUD, which is also horizontally reflected light, hence the whole issue… 35° might still make them work okay! I don’t know. If only Porsche made a vertically reflected HUD. ?

With my Maui Jims, it works “well enough”, except for those blue distance callouts, which require a lot of tilting and indeed make me look really confused. ? But when I drive without sunglasses, I marvel how readable that display becomes…

I tried non-polarized ones today, but my Maui Jims are just better!
