I have had my CPO 2020 4S for just over a year, and in that time I have never had a single issue. I charge at home with a Wallbox installed by FPL (Florida Power & Light) and until recently an 80% charge always gave me range of 205 miles, give or take a few.

I went out of town this weekend and left my car at home, and this morning when I got in it was showing me a range at 80% charge of only 155 miles! I don't know if a software update caused this, because nothing else has charged since I left it on Friday. The weather here hasn't drastically charged - Lows in the 70s and highs in the mid 80s.

I'm baffled as to why I've suddenly lost 25% of my range, seemingly overnight.
Any ideas before I call my service advisor?

Feel free to share your VIN Number in DM and I will check in PCSS whether your car is affected by WRS1.

But as I replied on Facebook to you, I'm 99% sure this is the beginning of a WRS1 failure in 2020 Taycan. They all start this way. Almost every week we repair one car with this problem and they all start this way.

At least 1 out of the 396 cells in your battery has dropped voltage, causing a big difference in voltage to the other cells (called voltage delta) which causes this sudden drop in range.

Here a customer enquires to us that his 2020 Taycan suddenly drop range from 430-440km to a mere 352km when fully charged.

Booked him right away to repair the battery..... 3 modules down

Thanks for the info. I had my car in for recall service last fall and they checked the battery for this issue and told me it checked out. Since it is still on a CPO warranty I will drive a few days more and if the status doesn't change, I'll call them to set up an appointment for further testing.

How's life in Bangkok?

Yup. As I presumed your car is affected by WRS1 and the dealer weren't even bothered to check it during last visits. So now you know the cause

I agree that this is an indication of 1 or more cells going bad. You only need 1 for Red Circle of Death.
The easiest thing to do to confirm this is to get the OBD and CarScanner app and get cell data.
I think this should be a given now for all owners. I check mine every 1k miles for SoH and cell stats.

Has your consumption changed- miles / kWh?

This would be another indicator of an issue.

I have never really looked at consumption to be honest. But nothing has changed weather wise or in the way I drive it, just that I left it for the weekend, charged when I got home and this. I have a service scheduled so I guess we'll see what they say.

This the same way my battery failed. I had a sudden drop in range ( ~60 miles ) in one week.. While the dealer was troubleshooting the HV battery failed. I got a remanufactured one under warranty. Good luck.

It's starting to look very much like a battery failure. I have a service scheduled to have it checked, so we'll see what they say.

A new battery pack wouldn't be a bad deal if it ultimately gives me a bit more range... #FingersCrossed

So it's easy to read from the My Porsche app and is the only accurate measure (give or take) of your range - the guess-o-meter can be random and either under / over report. This consumption value multiplied by your net battery usable (83.9 kWh if you have the performance battery plus) will be your true range average

Only suggesting you look to see if that has dropped in the same way - this could just be a software glitch rather than a battery issue.

If it is a failing battery then make sure that you get the J1.2 batteries (J1.1s were discontinued and Porsche were to replace with those fitted to J1.2 (no additional range unfortunately).

My avg consumption has not varied much. I'm averaging 3.2 mi/kWh over the last year, so that's an estimated range of 268.48 miles with the 83.9 kWh battery. The max range I've ever seen on the display is 265 miles at 99%.

I’m experiencing the same with PB+ where my avg driving is 19,5/100km = 5,13km * 83,9kW\h = 430k range where now only see 358 when fully charged. I’ll PM my VIN too if that’s ok?
