I'm due to be collecting my Taycan any time now and have just received the email regarding registering the car to my Porsche account, along with payment details for charging and Porsche connect services. I was looking for some feedback on the Porsche connect options. The security option is fairly self explanatory and from what I've read will be a pre requisite with most insurance companies, it's the data option that has me unsure? Without it will the car have zero data connection for maps, Spotify etc? Quite laughable thing to think considering the price of the car but £20 per month for 7GB seems extremely poor value, would anyone recommend this as a necessity or not?

its only for using the car as a wifi hotspot. All the things like maps etc come over a different network/sim.

Personal opinion - utter waste of money. Probably duplicating what you have on your phone as a wifi hotspot.

edit - and you can add it whenever you want should you decide you need it.

Porsche tracker a must imho.

Exactly what I was looking for cheers, just have to hope I don't get caught up in the heater madness now!

No doubt pretty slow too. Sorry Porsche this network tech stuff wouldn’t be one of your natural strongest suits.

Be cheaper getting a decent 3 or EE MiFi whatsadoodle and leaving it in the console.

You 100% can skip the data package as you do not require it for any of the in car connect services. NAV, Spotify, Carplay, Android Auto, Apple Musice , remote access do not depend on it.

The car has a dedicated service for this and is part of the purchase price.

The data package is simply for sharing the in-car WiFi hotspot to devices which don't have their own data connection or you don't want to use your phone for the same purpose.

Skip it.
