Would like to hear about any tips and if you any of you have tried the following, of course driving habits are number one :)

https://insideevs.com/news/519703/ev-aircon-refrigerant-boosts-range/
A couple weeks ago when I drove 247 miles across Colorado in 90F+ temps, I used the ventilated seats and ECO A/C the entire way (5hr drive). We were comfortable and this setup provided adequate cooling. At the start of the drive when I turned on the A/C the range only dropped about 8 miles out of 300 miles remaining. I was able to average roughly 295 Wh/mile which is outstanding.

I doubt this type of refrigerant would have much of an impact for the Taycan in hot weather. It seems the current cooling system is very efficient, especially with the insulated glass. Maybe certain EV's are extremely inefficient at cooling and would benefit more than the Taycan. When it comes to heating during cold temperatures, that's a different story and seems to have a much bigger impact on range. Maybe this is the situation they are referring to with the numbers they claimed. This would only apply to vehicles with a heat pump.

There are lots of ways to lose range for which you have little control. Increasing range requires specific actions.

In no particular order:
  1. Drive in range mode
  2. Decrease your speed
  3. Use cruise control
  4. Use 19 inch tires
  5. Light foot on the accelerator
  6. Lower the cabin temperature in cold weather
  7. Increase the cabin temperature in hot weather
  8. Use cabin ventilation to reduce heating and cooling loads
Manage your trip by
  1. Using something like ABRP or PIRM
  2. Arrive at a supercharger at as low a SOC as possible and charge to 85% max
Forgot this:
  1. Check your tire pressure frequently. Firm tires will give more range at some cost to handling.

1. I have found about 5-8% efficiency on long trips (180mi+) just by using ACC vs. personal driving.
2. Found about 2% efficiency on same trip by having regain off vs. 'auto' and counterintuitively a 2% decrease in efficiency when regain is 'on' for the entire trip.
3. last is controversial, I am sure but based on my experience, with the ACC + regain 'off', I have actually found another 2% efficiency in Sport + vs. 'range'. I was shocked, but it is what is is....perhaps it had to do with ambient conditions, but I have yet to see a benefit of using 'range' mode?
4. Last is speed, I actually have found the best use/time to be about 80-85mph. If I am slower at a reasonable speed (north of 70mph) there is only around a marginal 1% efficiency, I did get better efficiency down around 55-60mph, but I would lose my mind if I traveled at that speed for hours. However, north of 83-84mph, it does seem to drain the battery about a 5% loss across entire trip....so, I set to 80mph normally and 85mph if I am needing to get there a little faster..
*note: all speeds are only 'theoretical' and I would never exceed the posted speed limit anywhere I drive*

I don’t think it’s counterintuitive. It’s going to be more efficient to coast.

Thanks for the info, especially about the “theoretical” speeds. Good to know.
