Found two of these in my glove compartment and don't know what it is.

Does anyone have an idea?

They're for the security package thing. I don't think they function without it so I'd just leave them in there.

I wonder if they have to do with breaking up signals for the entry and trying to start the car without the key.

They come in this metallic bag. Do you keep them in the bag or take them out, and why are there two of them?

Get the "Good to know" app and search for PVTS. The fobs belong to the PVTS Plus system.

Porsche Vehicle Tracking fobs. If you have specified PVTS and have subscribed to the service then these fobs are paired to your vehicle and must be present at all times when driving the car. If you haven’t specified the option then don’t worry about these and just leave in the car (they’ll be inactive).

I do have PVT Plus activated and have subscribed to the service so I assume they are active. Do I need both of them in the car, or just one, and do they stay in the metallic wrapping or do they get taken out?

Ok.

So you need to have one with you when using (driving, moving) the car to prevent a theft alarm (you’ll get a phone call for your provider (Vodafone in UK) who monitor the vehicle.)

Suggest keeping one fob per key so leave o set at home and don’t leave one in the car (this will disable it).

Make sure your insurance company are aware you have the system installed as it will reduce insurance premiums.

Settings for PVTS+ are managed in the Porsche Connect App and on My Porsche and suggest you get familiar with this. You can control the monitoring when say the car is in for a service or limit the speed possible and so on.

No wrapping needed.

Thank you very much. I assume you take them out of the metal plastic wrap pouch...correct?

Edited response. @W1NGE got the explanation in first!

How bad was your handover they didn't explain any of this?!!

Yes, remove from the pouch.

For more info download the Porsche Good To Know App - PVTS is explained in detail.

Can be a bit fiddly to use but I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it.

You also don’t want to attach them to the key. One of the benefits of separating the key from the fob is car-jacking. If someone forces you out of the car and demands the key, you will separate the tracker fob and key and the alarm company will be notified right away.

And yes, I would remove them from the plastic wrap.

I don’t have them personally but have read a few posts on the topic as I was interested.

Just to clarify, don’t keep either of them permanently in the car. That would defeat the point of them entirely.
Take them out, and always bring one with you along with the car keys, when you are driving. (Preferably not connected to the car keys for the reasons stated above).

Just FYI, the Good to know app is not available in all markets or all phones so I would appreciate screenshots from the app. The unavailability of the app has been discussed in another thread. Thank you!

You could download the PDF too. I've done it for you.

Also the manual you got with the car is a printed copy.

Thanks and I appreciate your help! I have the manual in both electronic and paper format. My point was that people point to the Good To Know App as a resource but many members cannot access it so we cannot see what is documented in that app. If the Good To Know App is just a copy of manual then we can just say "look at the manual" :).
