Wife’s new RAnge Rover we just picked up got her wheels jacked at 215 in morning. She was one of 2, the other was a M5 BMW.

I watched the whole thing today in office as there were security cameras. Good thing I pay huge HOA fees to enforce security ?‍♂

obviously extremely frustrating as this is the second time we are a victim of wheel theft In last year (different locations)

My Taycan and her Rover will always be a target. Our building is taking measures already to mitigate problems like this

Few questions for you tech guys , I have locking lugs to act as a deterrent on the Taycan. They were not on the Rover.

I would like to add a motion sensor security system on both vehicles to act as a deterrent. Do we need to disable factory alarm in order to install this?

Anyone have motion sensor alarm on Taycan? PIA with constantly going off?

Does the Taycan being very low make it harder to jack wheels?

Both cars should already have an interior motion and tilt sensor - Taycan definitely has and would be surprised if the RR doesn't.

Locking wheel nuts are standard in UK on the Taycan and odd that this is not case elsewhere - again not sure on the RR.

Not sure how these hoodilams operate but if they're smart and have 4 jack's then the chances are the car won't tilt and therefore the alarm won't trigger.

Not sure what other type of electronic surveillance deterrent would prevent the theft.

Locking nuts are a must but not fool proof.

No, it’s the building security systems
Sorry to hear. Can you go to the security desk and video their video with your phone? You're paying for the security ...

Heads up that at least in some markets (like the US) the secure wheel nuts are no longer standard and must be optioned.

Be sure to tick that box when ordering.

After driving European cars for the better part of twenty years, where locking wheel nuts are just expected - I was shocked when I first got a (Cali built) Tesla that they didn’t have any locking wheel nuts.

Strange as you guys clearly have as much a problem with wheel theft as we do here.

Pretty sure locking wheel nuts are standard on range rovers in uk. I had seen on taycan's they were becoming an 'option' which is a p*ss take.

Anyway hope you get them replaced quickly and they've not done any other damage.

Must be a very recent thing as they were std on my 22 CT I.e. def did not have to select that option separately!

Not in UK - mine came standard with locking bolts (MY23 - 1st March 2023) - so very much a region specific change for who knows what reason.
I think I was specific to the US in my previous post….
