Hi all
I have noticed over the past few weeks that when I start my car in the morning and turn a corner at low speed, the wheels seem to make a jumping/creaking feel, as if there is something slipping within the wheel. Not sure if this is caused by the colder weather as it doesn't happen at high speed, only on turning at low speed. I have rear wheel steering but the sensation seems to be coming from the front wheels. It can feel so harsh at times. Has anyone in colder climates felt a similar sensation? Just for information, it's close to freezing here in the mornings, though don't think its the brakes causing the issue.

I thought it was just an oddity, a one off, but has happened to me too, now twice and like you at low speed - for both times turning while reversing but also front wheels - possibly both times on left front - checked all round and under car etc but does not appear to have any visible signs of damage or loose components etc so had put it down to a suspension/rws quirk but will mention it when I bring the car in for updates on Jan 9 (out of country for month of Dec).

Tread blocks squirming with lots of lock on the front end. Particularly noticeable in colder weather. Not an uncommon occurrence in sports cars with large section, low profile front end tires.

Had read of this before but after literally over 30 yers with similar wheel sizes had not (as far as I was aware!) felt this specifically - but dredging memory, just possibly in the M4 Vert - thx.

Thanks, I've never heard of this before. It feels terrible, like the wheels are going to fall off!

I have creeks when I make a turn but it sounds to me like it is coming from the drivers seat. My dealer said they couldnt find the trouble but I called Porsche and they said worst case you can claim warranty and replace the seat. If dealer won't comply call Porsche again and we'll get it sorted it out. I have another appointment with the dealer coming up to see if they can solve it this time.

Also know as the Ackerman effect; it’s a function of the suspension geometry used by Porsche and the front wheels’ turning angle relative to one another.

In race cars it is advantageous to handling to have the outside wheel turn more relative to the inside wheel. The downside of this is that at slow speeds there is more NVH than with a more compliant setup as the tires are turning at slightly different angles. It is even more prominent on the GT cars.
