PAINTED ARCHES - AT LAST

Just back from the custom shop with painted arches and STEK on front windshield - really beautiful job by my local shop - top quality - looks bloody amazing up close!

Few quick and dirty shots with phone on arrival home - lousy light day today (some blue skies appearing behind so will be better later), so these not the best but you can at least see the 'baby-butt' smooth finish in close-up and excellent color match.

Total cost for arches conversion was $1K even - this compared to just adding the ORDP at almost $1800+tax and of course you then have to do the work (yourself, not difficult, or at cost) to remove the arches, fill in left over plug holes etc. - Don't get me wrong, great results either way but I like this approach as it keeps it true to the original CT design whilst paying a little homage to the ST :)

They also painted my parking sensor and bef. you ask, yes it works perfectly fine - WinWin.

CETTE suspension modules and body colored reflector plugs next!

Finally the Monkey Butt Replacement project still on - I want to have a go myself first and see if I like my effort, and if not will commission them to do one (basically a $20 vs a $400 decision so nothing to lose there!).

Looks great! Quality job they did there.

Thx guys - next steps the CETTE suspension controllers - hoping they arrive soon and the body colored painted reflector replacements - I may be on the fence a little on the main rear set replacement but will experiment once received!

The crests on the front seats look really nice!
honestly in one month of ownership I look at it yesterday for the first time.
only the back of my head enjoyed it so far. Unless to my eyes. I’m glad I only have it on the front. For the same price you can get a radar detector valentine V1.

Absolutely - they are painted around their edges of course but yes, no reputable shop would ever attempt to paint these without first removing them. That said it is a very simple task to remove all four (and re-install) as they are held on with 3M style VHB tape. My guys actually improved on the OEM install as there was the slightest gap on the fenders in a couple of spots when delivered that now are 100% flush!

These were the "flat" colored arches that they painted? I assume they didnt need to sand off texture or whatnot. They probably took some primer for sure.

Looks great on that color! Did you spec parking assist? I noticed you’ve got ultrasonic sensors in front of your front wheels.

I’m just going to bite the bullet and trade mine for a GTS ST when I can get an allocation, I’ve got similar wants to you.

No these were the original albeit very slightly dimpled arches and most def no filer used - sanded and prepped to perfection by a very Pro team prior to paint.

I am assuming you are referring to my car right - was not certain if responding to another?
Yes the whole parking package including Remote Parking came with the Tech pkg when I purchased and indeed have the sensors in the front arches - about the only thing I did not order was innodrive - highly spec'd out! :)
The guys at my local shop touched up the sensor color to match the body paint - tiny add but finished it off nicely.

Thx!

No just the driver-passenger-rear windows and I am getting transparent STEK on the front windshield as we speak.

Thought long and hard re roof and the TBH the level of tint built in is good enough for me now (ask me again in July in Houston :) !!)

My main concern there was more protection from road chips etc. - there is at least one case where a forum mbr had the pano roof glass cracked by a flying chip from a truck! Very low probability of course but I will be erring on side of caution more as I do not want to add any thermal load to the pano roof (PPF here could poss. cause heat reflection (between glass and PPF) that theoretically could stress and even cause the glass to crack!).
Thank you for the very detailed reasoning. Makes sense. Sun and stones are native to Colorado.

@ciaranob did you run into any issues with sensors after ppf? I read here on the forum that if the side mirrors are taken off during ppf installation, some sensors need to be reset by the dealer?

So I only did the front half which does not include driver/passenger doors but does include the mirror housing - in my case I did not opt to have these removed (for the very reasons you mentioned which I believe is true for the mirrors), so indeed if you look very closely you'll see an Xpel edge where close to glass on the mirror housing but honestly you simply would not notice unless you were really intent on finding it!
