Guys,
I was wondering if the full on regen is better than auto-regen for saving the brakes.
Any idea?
Seat of pants feeling tells full on regen should save the brakes more but could be less energy efficient as we
want to coast sometimes.
Please can someone enlighten me?

Brake pedal uses regen.
Overrun recup settings do not affect brake pad wear.
This. Use the overrun recuperation (ie slows when you lift off the accelerator) or don’t based on what you prefer, as it has no impact on brake wear.

Neither.

Most braking is performed by the motors and not the brakes.

To engage pads and discs then you have to use significantly more brake force.

No need to over think this.

When I was in the finance office signing the paperwork for the 4S, they offered me the braking warranty. Buying the Taycan was really spur of the moment - I knew very little of the car, but trust Porsches as I've had a few. Anyway, They said that since the Taycan is heavy, it goes through brakes fast. Thankfully I opted out, only later to find out that 90% of typical breaking is via the motor. I can't imagine I'd ever need new brakes.

yes. I believe the service schedule calls for brake replacement at year 6 because they may have rotted by then; they don't expect them to actually wear out.

My dealer also shared that the brakes would be changed at 6 years regardless of the wear. I don’t think brake wear is an issue at all of these.
