I'm Still waiting on an allocation, i put my deposit down in November of last year. Just wondering if there's anyone here using the Exeter Porsche dealership? Be good to exchange experiences re ordering allocation etc.
Not Exeter (I use Reading), your timescale is possibly same as mine, my deposit placed in early Dec 2021 and was told by Dealer (who I have used for a number of cars), delivery of the TCT4S would be Dec 2022 or even "into 2023" which was actually what I wanted

Hi Dan I also placed an order for a RWD on the 17th November 2021 with Porsche Exeter and so far have had no updates at all with regard build dates or allocation etc.

I was initially told when I ordered to expect delivery some time around July to September 2022.
Spoke to them a few weeks ago and they had no update !

Welcome to the forum. I recommend you test drive both variants (the "Taycan" variant is called RWD around here to avoid confusion), and sit in vehicles with both interior options- it's all a matter of personal preference, all of those combinations would result in a good car. Spending more gets you more, but with Porsche there's almost unlimited potential to add cost and options- browsing these forums, you'll see a lot of varied opinion on specific examples.
It's worth travelling to more than one dealer if necessary to try RWD v 4S and full leather v standard interior.
To clarify, the salesman only recommended the RWD after I told him / he sensed I am not really into fast cars and all the extra functionality the 4S brings will probably be lost on me !. My personal preference is to spend as little money as possible but I know it will be false economy to go for the standard interior if it looks cheap and very inferior to the full leather.

Re the configured car, once I was not getting the more expensive 4S, I let the sales man guide me to through the options and we came up with http://www.porsche-code.com/PNFG1UJ3 . I am comfortable with the total cost but will like people's opinion on the Sports Chrono package and PDLS Plus options, are they worth the extra money ?

Re avoiding unnecessary expense, I'm not sure how noticeable the contrast will be between Volcano grey and black (interior trim, door handles, rear badge), and the glacier blue rear Porsche badge looks better with whites and even then looks a bit cheap to me.

If you'd like input from a wider audience, I suggest you post in a new thread- otherwise it'll be overlooked by the majority of members not interested in a UK April build. There are many of us with a long wait from finalising our own build to taking delivery, and reviewing other people's configurations seems like a popular way of passing the time :)

On the Taycan RWD, the window trims are in matt black already (whereas 4S and up have chrome). Therefore, I left the high gloss black elements out of my spec (window trim) and went with the matt black.

Other than that, the 14 or 18 way seats also have seat memory built in, so the step from 8 way with memory to 14 way is 913 pounds in your spec. Might be wise to check if the 8 way provide the comfort you need.

I had a March build slot for ST that has come and gone and no info at all on when it will now be scheduled. Frustrating as sounds like cars are beginning to flow again but not in the original order!

What annoys me is the lack of communication from Porsche. Happy to take our deposits but …..

Totally agree - i understand the challenges but communication is embarrassing - I am on the verge of getting something else instead in all honesty - if its going to be another 6 or 12 months I would rather know so i can decide/plan

That's probably why they don't want to tell you...
