Hi All,

As appears to be the norm, I’ve been wrangling over spec since placing my order and would welcome your informed opinions….

http://www.porsche-code.com/PNTFA3L0

I ordered a 4S in June 2021, and switched to a GTS ST on launch day in November, with Porsche Tonbridge.
If anyone has received news of anything positive relating to allocations / production, I would be pleased to hear it!

Looks good.

Only challenges I'd make is PDCC - no need for it given exemplary handling characteristics of the standard car - doubt you'd scratch the surface with day to day driving.

22kW - do you need it?

Thanks for your input.

PDCC is one I’ve been unsure about. No intention to use the car on a track, but worried I might regret it if I don’t tick the box. I drove a GTS ST without it yesterday, and the handling was amazing, especially with the RAS. I probably don’t need PDCC.

22KW - I won’t be able to charge at home, and have a 3 phase supply at my office. Therefore makes sense to be able to charge faster, as I won’t be there overnight. Concerned by the reliability of the 22KW unit though.

Before my test drive I had specced Race-Tex interior, Remote Park Assist (for everything but the remote part) and HUD. Having borrowed a car with these options I’m not keen.

Are there any other must-have options I’ve overlooked?

Be careful with 22kw upgrade!
Breaks cars! Ask Tigerbalm!!!!
Yr car will do 11kw anyway so you need to be at work for 7 and 1/2 hours to charge from 0-100%
You probably live closer than a 250 mile round trip from work so I am guessing car will be 100% even quicker!
You will leave work most of the the time with 100%charge even if you only work part time!
A £1000 upgrade that could immobilise you is not worth it. The only benefit of 22kw is your car will be fully charged 4 hours before you need to leave work which seems unnecessary!!
11kw will be fast enough in almost every conceivable scenario!
Good luck!
And don’t bother with PDCC unless you are going to track it!

I don't think you've overlooked anything and have been entirely pragmatic.

I don't think I'd bother with PDCC... But am going to try cars with and without at PEC later in the year.

Also wouldn't bother with the 22kw charger.

I really like the GTS interior so am having that.

Lane change assist I find useful on other cars. It should be standard but isn't.

Comfort access ditto.

I'd spec 4+1 seating. Cost is small, potential utility great and I think it will help resale later.

I'm also getting 4 zone climate control as the rear will be used plenty.

I need to dig more on my spec to see why it's 6k more than yours without PDCC and 22kw :)

PS not a dickie bird on allocations yet. And as I'm the only one not first on a list, I suspect my license will be revoked through old age before I get one :D

Thanks Ross, that’s a very reasonable argument on the 22KW charger.
I guess I’ve been thinking that faster charging will reduce any concerns over range anxiety / poor charging network in my local area. However my commute is negligible, so the 11KW will be fine. First EV for me and I’m therefore cautious, but I don’t fill my petrol tank every day with my current car.
So with PDCC, thats £3,500 saved so far!

I have PEC day booked for June, so hopefully it will be possible to test PDCC, however I drove a GTS ST without it this weekend and I couldn’t fault the handling at all.

I’m now agreed on the 22KW charger. It’s a no.

I was keen on the Race Tex interior until I saw it this weekend. I just don’t think the quality matches the leather equivalent. Disappointing as I really wanted to like it! Will still have a Race Tex steering wheel though.

Not convinced on Lane Change Assist. I’ve not had it before and didn’t find it very useful on the demo car.
Definitely don’t want or need comfort access. I made the boot open once in five attempts. Waggling my leg around like an idiot with my wife laughing at me isn’t worth the extra £!

I like the look of the rear seats without the 4+1 option, and I’m too tall for anyone to sit behind me anyway, so it’s a 3 seater at best. Ditto for 4 way climate control.

I guess you must have specced a lot in the interior, which I’d love to do, but cannot possibly justify!

Very frustrating. I’m apparently 2nd on the list of 27 orders. They’ve told me they haven’t had an allocation to build an order for 5+ weeks. For any model, not just Taycan.

We'll Comfort is a reasonable option actually - less waggle and more in and out hokey cokey is what you need. Easy when you know how.

The big thing apart from door opening is the lack of pressing the power button. Climb in sit down engage go.

A pleasure.
I have ordered a GTS coming soon hopefully and locked in so can’t change now ?
PN6DNAQ3 is the code!
I am a low spec kind of guy!
GTS has £20k extras over 4S anyway!
Only 7k in extras this time and that’s £4600 for Crayon, Spyders and Roof.
Got roof so can fit roof rack. It is nice though. Can’t justify +2500 for party trick roof.
Got ACC to play with Inno and ALK on FoD even though I prefer basic cruise.
Don’t do inner tarting up! I think the interior is lovely anyway.
Don’t do electric car ports. Party trick that can and does go wrong!

My only major regret is not taking the Porsche Design Clock ☹
Sports Chrono is of course standard on a GTS so I am going to have that dog turd of a pointless never ending second hand right in my eyeline in the middle of the otherwise immaculate dash.
I haven’t thought of how to discreetly cover it yet! Anything that comes to hand will do! Oily rag?
Have fun on the configurator!
cheers
Ross
