Took delivery of my Taycan RWD in November and largely had no issues with it. I live in Chicago, so after a few months of winter driving I was just about to enjoy some warm weather driving and getting it out on the road for longer trips.

Took it out to the suburbs for a work trip and thought since I was heading back in rush hour traffic, I might as well stop at an EA charger and take advantage of free charging.

Plugged in, every thing was going along fine and then there was a charging error 10 mins in. I had more than enough charge to make it home comfortably so I disconnected and went to leave the pull out of the spot and the red Electical system fault warning and the car wouldn’t start. Came to this forum, saw that folks had some luck waiting it out, so I did that and car stared. Made it about 50 feet and it shut down completely before i left the lot. After doing that 4 more times of trying the wait it out method I finally had it towed.

After almost two weeks in the shop, just got the news that battery cells need to be replaced. Looking at least 3 months.

with gas prices the way they are, this is costing me more than time with my brand new car. My dealer has one Taycan loaner that is out right now but I insisted on having it when it’s back. Who knows if that will happen and/or if they let me keep for 90 days.

Do I have any other recourse? Has anyone had their car in the shop for this long? It’s obviously a huge inconvenience and my first truly negative experience with Porsche. Anything I should be asking for/demanding from the dealer/pcna or is that a lost cause?

I’m not familiar with your “customer protect legislation”, but in our country, if problem with the product in warranty is not fixed in 45 days, one can demand new (same or similar) product, or money back….

Illinois Lemon Law: https://illinoisdealers.com/dealer-services/faq/lemon-law. Information on how to make a claim is most likely in your owner's manual or an added booklet that came with the car. Most lemon law attorney's handle the cases on contingency, meaning the manufacturer pays their fees once settled.

Feel the same. My RWD packed up. They are paying for a Jag SUV hire car that drives like a whale but diesel is at record UK highs. And I kind of swore never to drive ice age again, save the planet and wallet etc.

I would reach out to Porsche North America. In late spring 2020, I had 12v issues in my first Taycan and waited for two months for a fix, Porsche NA provided me with financial compensation while the car was in the shop.

they may not be doing that currently, but worth a shot to escalate to the Porsche team in Atlanta.

Good luck!

Tell them you will lemon it. Problem is you’ll not likely find a new one. And for that matter what would you find buy afterwards. Also if you financed /leased It the interest rate would be higher so you are kind of over a barrel.

Start a case with PCNA and request a buyback once you hit the 30 days or whatever you're state allows.

PCNA will have to comply with a buyback if you request it, but will also offer you a goodwill compensation offer to keep the car instead.

Ha.. 3 months.. get that in writing.. I’m going into month 6 now.. supposedly it landed back east almost 2 weeks ago now but I was told it was on its way 3 times prior with supposed eta’s… waiting for a call this week that it has arrived and have started the conversation with them in regards to buyback/compensation options.. I really want my car back but I am definetly concerned with distance travelling and being stuck somewhere.. also the 6 months depreciation that has happened while not in my possession.. see how it plays out.

What year is your car? I'm getting freaked out with my Nov 2021 delivery.

Why do you say PCNA "will have to" comply with your request?

Just because you request a buy back does not mean PCNA will approve it. In my experience they are the most difficult manufacturer to deal with in terms of buy back. Get everything in writing because they are known to be tricky. They'll tell you one thing and then deny that was ever offered. I love the brand but the folks in Atlanta do not grant buybacks easily.

If the car meets the terms of your states lemon law, and you demand a buyback , they know they have to comply with the law. It’s very cut and dry. They aren’t going to offer it up to you, you have to demand it, and your car has to qualify.

They offered to buy mine back and we’re pretty easy to deal with. You just have to make the right demands and know your rights.

Can I ask how much they compensate you for 2 months? Mine is into its 6th month with them now and I have started the compensation conversation with them in anticipation..

I was pretty aggressive, and it was just as the Taycan was rolling out in the US, so Porsche NA wanted to make sure that negative customer feedback was kept to a minimum.

let's just say it had the numbers 1 and 5 in it and there were more than two zero's after those numbers. Not saying that you will see that yourself, but Porsche took very good care of me two years ago when I had issues my my early VIN Taycan.

Depending on your state, if you go the lemon route, Porsche needs to cover lawyer fees. So you could use a lemon law lawyer as well
