Taycan (in all versions) is a nice car but it is not the right vehicle for full time duty for a family of 5. Those are just the facts.

I have a deposit on an ST GTS and also have three kids aged 10, 5, and 2. I’ll have two car seats in the GTS so don’t even know if the 10 year old will fit in between! Only a couple years until he can ride in the front seat. I’ve been driving them to school in my e-tron and it’s even a bit snug in there! Throw in backpacks and tablets etc…… I’m in a situation where I don’t plan to use whichever EV for anything other than around town and throw everything in the van for longer trips.

it’s a great idea about taking A longer test ride with everyone in tow. I know my 10 year old will be excited to ride in it at first, but will soon realize that he is getting slowly smashed.

With three kids this would be a second car for short journeys it would be fine though.
Bear in mind the panoramic roof gives more headroom too.

I have had three adults back there and no real complaints. It was just for rides to dinner and back. The hump might impact leg room though. My 80 pound lab might give you an idea on spacing. :)

It is a 4 seater right ? So can I ask you about the folding of the rear seats? maybe quicker than to wait for my SP answer... is it 40 / 60 ? and armrest is attached right ? Thanks for reply

4+1 seats have a 40/20/40 fold whereas the standard has 40/60 fold.

I just opted the 4+1 for "safety" if I have to carry an extra person. We are a family of 4 but I have the occasional dad taxi runs. Don't know whether it's already mentioned but the stitching is also different if you take 4+1 and 18 way front seats which was a no no for my OSD so opted the 14 ways + 4+1. Just my 2 cents of course.

No. I have the 2+1 . If you notice, there is no tray between the 2 seats. There is also a third seat belt. The upper section will fold down for an armrest and two cupholders, but when up acts as the middle seat back.

I honestly think you will be totally fine with three kids in the back. I generally find a lot of new car (and small SUV) designs claustrophic especially in the second row because of ever shrinking window sizes. My expectations were low about rear seats when I got the Taycan based on sitting on the rear seats at dealerships few times. Using it day to day i should say I was positively surprised. We took 1-2 hour drives with our two kids, my wife and our Au pair (so utilizing all 5 seats) and no one complained back there (my wife and au-pair changed seats couple times and trust me my wife would not refrain from complaining, given she was not a fan of the Taycan idea. I also sat back there for several rides and found it oddly comfortable. And i have the regular version not even the CT or ST. Maybe it is the glass top or overall feeling of space, you don't come out of that back seat feeling cramped after a drive (and I do get this feeling in a lot of small SUVs). Hard to explain this, but couple observations: The design of the car is somewhat misleading as the whole vehicle looks much smaller than it is and back seats "look" smaller/tigther than they are. Crazy fact: Taycan is the widest 4 door sedan in production together with Model S plaid. It is wider than the new S-class, Audi A8 and even a bentley flying spur! It is as long as a Volvo S90. Yes not all that directly translate to interior space because of porshe design, but still sheer size inevitably gives you dimensions inside. The width of the second row for example, is definitely more than how initially it looks. With regards to middle seat, I think any kid up to 12-13 years of age would be absolutely fine there. IMO, It would be a mistake to consider back seat as a dealbreaker especially the Jag you are coming from is not a particularly high threshold when it comes to roominess.

I would look at an e-Macan. That might be better suited to a family of 5

Thanks. He is a great "rescue" dog. Cannot believe that someone dumped him off in a field.

That pic was him jumping in the car when I was getting something out of it because he wanted to go to the dog park! I have a big sheet that I put in the back when I do take him in there. I am not a fan of the look of the dog seat covers (we have one in my wife's truck) and would be constantly taking it out to not have to see it. I will come up with a solution.

Hi all

New member here..... currently have a Jaguar iPace and am getting ready to order my next car. Without question my car of choice would be the Taycan (likely Sport Turismo 4S) - but my only concern is around rear seat space as we are a family of 5 (kids aged 14, 12, 8) and whilst they can comfortably fit in the back of Jag - I'm finding it really hard to find any comparative info re space at back of Taycan.

Any help or advice would be appreciated (and yes - I do intend on going to a dealership with full family to try it out - but just struggling to find time at moment!)

Thanks!
Sorry but you're not realistically going to fit 3 kids comfortably in the back row, especially with two of them being growing teens and one probably requiring a car booster seat, taking up even more space. For a full family of 5 you should probably stick with a proper crossover/SUV form. factor.

I have had three adults back there and no real complaints. It was just for rides to dinner and back. The hump might impact leg room though. My 80 pound lab might give you an idea on spacing. :)

Something tells me those 3 adults are either:
1. Freakishly tiny
2. Or just super super polite.

I'm not sure how they have sat shoulder to shoulder and not be uncomfortable. Especially with two of the seats being clearly scalloped out as shallow buckets. ?

The adults were women and they are not real tall and pretty thin. LOL

As a family of 5 I have 3 kids, 9, 6, and 4. There’s a carseat in the middle for the 4yo. So far it’s ok since they are still small but I can imagine once the 4yo grows out of the car seat there will be a bit of fight on who sits in the middle. The middle seat design is pretty poor with the big hump on the floor. Maybe by then I already switched to another car so I am not overly concerned at this point.

The Taycan replaced my previous Model 3 performance and that car was just so spacious, flat floor at all that fits my 3 kids comfortably with their backpacks and all. I also didn’t have to remind them to be careful with the interior. Fortunately we also have a Model X so we will use that on longer trips.
