Is there a thread anywhere discussing pros & cons (factual and/or opinions....) ?
Curious as there are growing numbers of Taycan used in my area of the west, and they are 90% RWD......
Are they getting dumped? No likey? Any known problems?
Range issues? Other?
Point me in the right direction........

Typically the least expensive trim will have the most cars produced/delivered. Consequently the used car market will have a similar distribution of trims. There are probably some cars coming off of leases, as well as people who are upgrading and have ordered in the last year are finally getting their new cars (the 12V issue caused a major clog in the pipeline, all those cars have recently been released in a hurry), so their trade-ins add to the used car inventory. If you're seeing new cars, that's because Porsche seems to have released a bunch of RWD allocations for the USA in the last few months (there are even some open allocations available at various dealers today - something mostly unheard of 6-8 months ago).

AWD all day long. Better traction and more desirable.

I saw a comment that a Porsche test driver liked the RWD on coil springs and standard battery best.
That would probably be because it was the best handling option, being very considerably lighter and having enough traction on a dry road.

Here where I live AWD will only have noticeably better traction in ordinary road use about 2 to 3 weeks a year. Personally I have never considered AWD to be worth having.

Until, that is, an EV. I do consider it worthwhile in an EV purely for nicely balanced regenerative braking. Obviously on the RWD there can’t be any regenerative braking from the front axle which means only braking the rear in normal use.

So for the first time in my life I have all four wheels driven. The extra weight really p*sses me off though.

I remember hearing that too Frank, though I thought it was an engineer rather than a test driver, they also preferred the Cayenne on standard springs and skinny tyres. I agree with you on AWD, though I can’t discern the extra weight in my 4S, it’s a heavy lump to start with. I’d really like to drive the RWD Taycan, if it ‘feels’ better than my current car I could be tempted next time.

I just traded an RWD on a GTS AWD.

RWD: More range, less off-the-line performance.

RWD is a fine car and honestly if I’d gotten the color I wanted on it I probably would have just kept it.
Wouldn't wrapping it in a color you want have been cheaper than trading up?

Let me put this another way.
I bought the RWD in a color I didn’t love. I thought it would grow on me over time, and it didn’t.
Every time I looked at it, I wished it was my proper red.

That long-term burn of disliking the color (and the nagging want for a bit more performance) grew into me eventually wanting to upgrade it entirely.

I was looking at placing a 4S order (and accepting a long wait) when the Carmine GTS landed for immediate purchase, so I jumped on it.

I considered a color change wrap at one point but figured it wouldn’t work out as well as I want.

Why settle with RWD, if you can have AWD? My previous car (Merc E W213) was RWD and H&R springs with Billstein B8, I like air better, less “jumpy”
