The Porsche and my rack require the bike rack prep. It is retrofittable if you’re determined.

FYI, the bike rack prep is standard on US Cross Turismo and an option on CT and ST in Europe. And in Asia, not an option at all as far as I know.
Thanks for the quick reply. I had contacted Porsche before and they told me it wasn't retrofittable. They're probably clueless about that. Do you (or anyone else) have any details on the retrofit so I can try to have that done ?

Willy’s bike rack probably gets more complements than the car from my bike mates. Managed to rig up the lights using the lights and euro adapter recommended on here and some duct tape but can’t see anything to attach the rear plate too. Currently hanging it off the bike. Anyone found a solution to this?

I checked today and confirmed that I don't have the steel pieces to support the bike rack. Does anyone have details on the steel pieces need to have the rack working (without eletrical connections)?

I didn't have any luck finding the brackets part numbers. I'd have to call the dealership with VIN to have them look it up but I'm also out of the country for another month...

Does your CT also have a cover on the left side of the car? If not, (and for any ST or Sedan owners conversion) you may also need the lower bumper cover that has the removable covers on both sides. 9J0-807-875-AA/AN/AM and the covers themselves 9J0-807-441-OK1 and 9J0-807-442-OK1

Are these the brackets? I’m trying to convert my Taycan sedan bumper because I want to also be able to use a rear carrier for my bikes

Thanks for your update. My car has covers on both sides. On the left side there is a bracket for towing the car, but not the hole for the bike rack, unfortunately.

those looks to be the bumper crash bar / structure. typically when you get the OEM hitch attachment for vehicles or even the stealth hitches, you need to replace the cross bar for the rear bumper.

Round 2 bar order is in the works! Supplier already received material and has started machining. Seems this round is going to go a lot faster than the first group. Expect to have the bars by early-mid August for those in the US.

Look for a DM with payment instructions. $500 for the bars or $550 including the trailer plug (to disable parking sensors and power lift gate). Price includes shipping in continental US.

Anyone else that wants to join in just reply below or DM me.

  16. .
For the racks, there are a few options which I will let you order separately. The preferred rack is 1up:
https://www.1up-usa.com/product/roof-rack/ Choose the 2” bolt option.
If you are in Europe I can order the 1up racks for you and ship together to the parcel forwarder of your choosing. The total package weight is 40lbs for shipping quotes.

Alternative bike mounts:

The Yakima ForkChop also works and a previous user used it on their bars:
https://yakima.com/products/forkchop This option not as ideal since the wheel needs to come off. But those in Europe may be able to order them locally.

The Yakima FrontLoader works but will only fit wheelbases up to 43”. Most road bikes will work but mountain or city bikes will not. But it is available in Europe.

And if you’re not in to bikes but want to haul more cargo, 1up sells a really nice cargo tray that can be ordered on its own (without the hitch frame) if you email them. Requires hole drilling.

Works great with the cargo tray too.

IMG_7489.jpg

FYI, I'll let you order your own cargo tray and 1up will ship to you free if you get theirs. Will need the 60" one as the 48" is just a bit too short.

And thanks for being #10 on the list! For everyone else on the list, look for a DM on or before 4/22.
Were can you buy this cargo tray? I am from Euro and are very interested if I can buy it local here...

Sent you a DM with details.

1up doesn’t sell in Europe. For past shipments to Europe I’ve bought the racks and shipped them myself. The cargo tray is larger and quite heavy so I’d have to check shipping costs. Will reply to your DM.

Looks like Spring is just around the corner and some members have been contacting me about doing another production run of the bars and bike rack.

I'd like to get a show of interest here before I place an order with our manufacturer. Please reply below if you're interested in joining this 3rd group buy.

The details are similar to the last group buys but I'll repeat here since it's buried in this thread:

I supply the the bars and trailer plug for $550, shipped within continental US. In the US, users will need to purchase the bike tray racks separately (links below). All hardware and tools are included.

For those in Europe, I can purchase and ship the bars and bike racks together since the 1up and Kuat racks are not available in Europe. In the past this was around $250 for shipping and $610 for a pair of 1up tray racks, total about $1410.

If there is enough interest (10+) I’ll request payment by March 1st so I can get production started. Expect delivery in the US by mid-April

More details about the setup:
  • Load rating is limited by the limit of the tray racks. For the 1up rack it's 75lbs per bike and for the Kuat it's 67lbs per bike.
  • The bars are designed for 2 bikes but it's possible to fit 3 trays (it's tight).
  • 1up and Kuat max wheel base is around 53" and can fit tires up to 5" (1up needs an adapter kit)
For the racks, there are a few options which I will let you order separately. The preferred rack is 1up: https://www.1up-usa.com/product/roof-rack/ Choose the 2” bolt option.

Kuat also announced that they will have a tray rack based on their Piston Pro X. It is very nice and available Spring 2023. https://www.kuat.com/product/piston-sr/ I'm ordering a set of these to test fit once they start shipping.

If you're not looking to haul bikes, myself and a few other members have mounted boxes, cargo trays, and other attachments and I can share details or links to those upon request. On a recent ski trip with 4 pairs of skis on the rear tray:

Is this still going on? I’m interested of getting the bars and the trailer plug.
